Im getting new sprockets and chain for my 83 185s. I have stock sprockets and chain on it now but I want to swap the rear sprocket to a 44t instead of 41t and keep the front an 11t like it is now. Will I have to get a longer chain with the bigger sprocket or will I have enough adjustment with the stock length for it to fit? Im doing this swap so I can have more torque for the larger tires I just put on. And is an EK chain a good brand o-ring chain?

You can put the old chain and just take a measurement from the center of one pin to the other.
I know I don't have your model, but I always buy 114 or 124 links (I forget) and the chain is 5$ more.
On that trike I would run a nice quality smooth NON o-ring chain.

Why non o-ring? I'll be going through a lot of mud if that makes a difference on chain type?

Because it's a 185. The o-ring chains add quite a bit of drag.
A good quality non-o ring chain will be fine. Maintain it and keep it lubed and adjusted.

Ah so to keep up the power. Then what brand would you recommend for a standard chain?

What I'm asking is can I run a the stock 82 links with the 3 tooth bigger sprocket or do I need to get a 84 link chain?
