yep, its time to start on another trike for the invasion, i have acess to a machine shop now,, so i am going to step it up a little, i am building this for my daughter . so keep that in mind it will NOT be raced or moto-x'd , it will have a life of leisure in the dunes . so i won't do much with the motor,, in an effort to make it more comfortable i will be working on the suspension mainly,, i will do a dc conversion and run a battery , that way i can run a set of 12" led light bars so you can see at night,. so far i have taken a bare frame and started adding gussets, and a few new brackets,, i have already built the front suspension and am currently working on the front wheel aand hub, it will also include a speedometer just for fun. led lights in the rear and probably under it too.. here is a sneek peak of the wheel and hub,, oh yeah beadlocks all the way around!!

i took a set of 10 inch quad wheels spun them on the lathe and took them apart, i left both center sections in the wheels to get close to the right width, and its double the strength too,, then i got a set of ltz400 front lonester hubs ,, and sanwiched the wheel between them,, i cut all the disc hub off the one side to make room for the speedo drive , it will be kind of cool to have an odometer (poor mans GPS)

what's the power plant?

you know its funny . i never mentioned that this is an 85 350x .. and i massaged a complete 85 250r pro-link rear suspension on to it, the stock 250r swingarm is +3 to a stock 350x swingarm, so the added benifiets are extended swinger and more suspension travel ,, so i had to upgrade the front also,, so you see what i have come up with ,, the beadlocks are for looks ,, thought i would do something i have not seen yet again,,,,,, when finished should look pretty stock appearing from a distance,,, it should be way more comfortable to ride also adding dual 12 inch LED headlights ,,,,,

Looks good I like those rear tires and rims.

KASEY
12-23-2012, 08:47 PM
the tires are for roll a aroud while building,, its going to have a mohawk on the front and sandstars on the rear when it heads to the dunes in a couple of months,,

ITS AN 85 350X. first year frames did crack more than other years. i am adding 85 250r rear suspension with a +3 swingarm to the stock 350x.. so i added a little frame insurance so it won't broke down on one of our FANTASTIC dune adventures.

Alright I'm confused. I picked up on the 350 frame right away, but now the 250r decal on the swinger has me stumped. Powerplant???

KASEY
02-09-2013, 10:38 PM
85 350x frame. 86 ATC250R REAR SUSPENSION. its still a 350x.. just has a little better suspension,, the swinger is 86 250r the rear shock is 89 trx 250r heavier ohlins spring . the trx swingarm is +3 to stock 350x so i end up with an extended swinger which is way better for the dunes,,

no porgress on the trike today... BUT i got tired of flimsy stands and low working areas!!! my old knees and back said FIX IT PLEASE!!! so today i took a couple of spare tool boxes and made a 3 wheeled rolling trike building stand!!! now when i work on something i can put all the parts in drawers and remember where they are!!!! AND NO i don't use the same perameters when building tools as trikes... it will never get painted or tricked out,,,,,

...NO i don't use the same perameters when building tools as trikes... it will never get painted or tricked out...What a fricken slacker! With a little effort, less than a qt. of that red (which we know you stock by the gallon), and some strategically placed decals, that work stand could be truly a work of art. Right now it's just an eyesore.

The bike is looking great, and so does the eyesore. Keep it up.

Woot!! 3 wheeled tool box!! what size motor??? will it have any suspension??

oh and nice looking trike or what ever that thing up top is.

You should paint some barbed wire on 1 side of the tool box and a heart tattoo that says mother in it. That way it will be BAD ASS.

LOL

KASEY

today i used a parts 350x to build the new pipe for the nre 350x... i used a stock xr400 head pipe,. bigger diameter than a stock 350x and its stainless steel like the 400ex. it bolted right on without a single issue, so then i added a nice carbon fiber can that i have been saving for just this reason,,,, it fits perfect .. so as soon as i get the motor in the new trike ,, the pipe is already done.. with the exception of cleaning it up and polishing it up.... also i am going to use a master cylinder off a newer yz450,, it has a built in resiviour so i eliminate a few things,, it will bolt on where the stock master goes and hook right up to the pedal.. so far the only thing i see is it has a smaller diameter on the cyilnder,, not sure if that will effect the amount of pedal travel necessary to activate the brakes properly yet or not,,, i guess when i get it all juiced up i will see,,,

ok while there is a work stopage i thought i would post a few before and after picts,, just to see what all is involved,, first is the prolink setup, you can see a stock 350x frame in the first picture and in the second you can see what was added to make the pro link actually hook to the frame... in the second set of picts you can see how i gusseted the seat and airbox mount,, these are very pron to cracking,,,

i used a master cylinder off a YZ450f its almost a bolt on. with a little adjusting it works perfect . now no more messing with a remote resivour ,,, its all in one ,, the piston is just a shade smaller than the stock 350x.. but it works great with a minnimal amount of pedal travel..

the front wheel is 2 outside halves of a set of quad wheels ... cut apart,, turned on a lathe to narrow them up a little then a set of lonestar quad hubs turned inside out cut on a lathe to fit the face of the wheel halves and sandwhiched together,,, with a disc from a 82 250r and a pit bike 4 piston caliper,,, got that? LOL!!
