I'm dis-assembling my extra frame and trying to seperate my swing arm from my frame. I got the large 22mm nut off the right side, but I cannot get the 19mm bolt on the left side to budge. I tried a ratchet with a long cheater bar on it, and a 260 ft. lb. air gun also to no avail. I'm going to try a IR 2131 air gun on it (400 FT. LB. he he). But one question is there any possibility that the bolt is opposite threads? left turn tighten, right turn loosen? I don't want to have to torch or cut the bolt off my nice frame and risk damaging it, or wasting the swingarm bearings and seals by sazalling. Anyone else have any other tricks? I soaked it with penetrant several times over an hour and have tried tapping the end without a nut on it with a hammer and hitting the bolt with my air gun.

good old seized swingarm bolt, usually you can atleast turn the bolt. Either way you go, cutting the bolt, or cutting torch you are gonna fry the bearings and seals. I've heard that some people use a air hammer on the other end and try to vibrate the bolt out. Unfortunitly where the bolt is stuck you will not be able to get any oil on, they usually seize to the collar on the side of the 19mm head. Don't know what to tell you, but yo probably will be buying a new bolt and bearings. I've broken one free by using a 1/2" 3 foot breaker bar with a 3 foot section of 3/4" rigid, go the bolt to turn and moved the bolt while another person was hitting it a 5 pound sledge. after the bolt was far enough in we used a long steel punch I think 3/8". It came out with alot of difficulty.

I bought a 28 ton press just because of this problem (at least I can rebuild cranks now too :D ). If you have access to one thats your best bet for saving all of the parts.....mind you it's still no guarantee I've had about a 98% success rate with stuck swing arm bolts.

air hammer. The harder you turn on the bolt the more likely it will twist and weaken. 2 collars by the bearing are most likely rusted. air hammer. I tried the press and I wasn't able to give support to the tab on the frame and tweaked it a little.
Hey if it's seized, the bearings and seals are no good anymore anyway.
I had a stuck KXT swingarm bolt once and it took a sledge to get it out.

I cut a piece of iron pipe that the head of the bolt fits into to give support to the frame while in the press. It works excellent, I have had some luck with a sledge hammer in the past (using blocks of wood to prevent damage to the bolt), but every bolt that wouldn't budge with the sledge came out in the press. I never tried an air hammer, I always thought it would mushroom the end of the bolt.

the last one i had a hard time with i cut the motor mount off where it runs thru the swingarm, and heated the hell out of the needle bearing area, that finally did the trick, as previously stated, you bolt is trash, needle bearings are trash, and cap seals are all trash.. at least you can get a cheaper 400ex swingarm bolt in there for savings..
