hey guys,

The wife and I moved into our house about 6-7 months ago. Did some research on this during the summer and talked to Thorpe a bit. And since we got our first snowfall this weekend, figured it was time to get on it.

So far ive only used it for about 50 feet, but all seems to be well. Got some things to finish up, need to adjust the sliders on the bottom, and figure out how to mount the winch controls. Thinking about tire chains and a 60 lb sand bag on the back rack.

I love it so far, cant wait to come home from work and do some plowing!

maybe ill be like peepers and charge a beer/shot per driveway in my neighbourhood. Theres only about 30 houses

Have 20 invested in the blade, and 50 for the winch. Got my buddy who is a welder to help me out.

What do ya think?

If you end up really wanting a tractor..Put a cut up bed mat or tractor trailer mud flap on the back rack, and strap 2 or 3 cinder blocks on her. She'll push like a dozer.

Make an adapter for the rotors you have laying underneath the bench and use them as wheel weights. Need more weight? Buy same bolt pattern rotors and bolt them together.

Gussets arent needed... I have been using the crap out of mine for a few years now, and its not a concern...

Very nice Kintore! Glad I could be some inspiration! I find that with the smaller sliders, the better it will back drag... (Standing on your perimeter frame helps quite a bit for that) Also found out that some reinforcement on the front rack helps a lot... When the snow gets wet, it can get pretty hard on the front rack... I moved my side bars as far forward as possible, gusseted and plated... I have hung my BR in the big willow tree just to prove the point to a buddy that it was plenty beefy...

Looks good Kintore.
We get way too much snow up here for a trike to plow anything. That's what the 4 wheeler is for with chains and 200 lbs attached to the rear rack. And the blazer..

I was just going to say it looks like your front rack is sagging down in the pictures but you guys already covered that... LOL

I have a Cycle Country on mine now, don't have to use the front rack as a support point with it. Works awesome, i leveled the driveways the first day i had it on. All mine needs is some new trip springs as the originals are a bit weak and i plan on motorizing the side to side movement with some linear actuators.

Alrighty!!! Fellow member of the Icefest plow staff!! Looks good bro. You will find it hard to turn with the winch when lifted though. Mine is anyways. I really need to make a swivel system someday......... My front tire is studded, rears have new v bar chains, with 50 lbs of weight per side. The front of my plow has weights added also as needed. That little 200 turns into a freakin' mini tank in low range with it set up to plow!!:lock: You will get a sh%t eatin' grin when you get her all set up and all the bugs worked out!! I added adjustable angle also without getting off!! Here it is http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php/135866-Big-red-now-has-a-winch-and-adjustable-angle-plow-for-icefest!!

The rack is bent down since we bought it, so far all the plow does is compress the suspension on the front about 1.5 inches or so.

She is a old girl haha

I cant wait for snow!!! too bad its suppose to get warm here in the next few days, bummer

Your going to love plowing in the snow! I dont use chains or any added weight on my big red and she does snow just fine. However with the really heavy wet stuff I would say to get chains however theres always the snowthrower on the tractor for that if you want to paint the powerlines lol.

p.s. here is a video of me plowing. Very short and nothing fantastic as i cant hold the camera and plow with heavy snow but incase anyone wants to see it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxjZtimQmK8&list=UUBmNhmVV11rAGBIzSlQdKEA&index=13&feature=plcp

Couldnt take it anymore! we only have like a inch of snow, besides what has drifted around. Still waiting on more but ive been waiting for weeks to try this bad boy out. I tell ya its the cats meow! I LOVE it! so much fun!
The turning isnt as bad as I thought, turns a little heavier but not as bad as I expected. Defiantly need to bypass the reverse switch so I can just clunk from one 1st to N to Reverse easily.

So far I need a few things, one some handlebar covers for my hands. And probably some chains when things get real

Sweet! Forecast is showing another 2-5 inches here today into tonight, it just started snowing pretty good about a half hour ago. My BR is fueled up, battery is on maintainer, and she is ready to hit the snow with the plow when its done.
