With so many carb cleaning questions and which tools I recommend everyone buy one of these if you don't have one. I have used them to clean carbs for over 16 years.

A single wire pulled from a wire brush works great on small jets. I've been using it for years.

I have a set like the link and a torch tip set and they are identical except there are a couple sizes smaller on these.

That works but there are jets that are too small for a wire brush wire, and some of these are ribbed to really unplug holes.

The ones from a welding store are half the price and no shipping. I saw a set at ACE and they were three times as long but still in a fold over case like the ones shown.

The welding tip ones do not go as small as the correct jet cleaning tool. I use the one listed above. The wire from the brush works, I used that for years, but the cleaner is easier.

I've been using electric guitar strings.
Usually from .008 up to .040+

But I like the idea of ripple ridges.
Some of that carb stuff seems to turn into crud that needs dental tools.

This is a good thread. I have been using a tip cleaner but I cant get into an atc70 pilot jet. I just invested in an ultrasonic cleaner last week. I will def look into buying this myself.

I use a bread tie its soft enough not to damage or scratch the jets but tough enough to remove gunk.

I will have to buy one and try it, it would be nice if we had them in the 3ww store.

That is cool - I had no idea it existed.

When I have a stubborn, plugged jet, especially a small one, I use copper wires from speaker or power (car audio) wire to open up a hole.

Had the same issue with my kids xr50... Soak it in wd40 for awhile, then heat it with a little propane torch. (may have to do it a time or two) It will puke the crud out of the pilot to the point you can just blow it out with compressed air!
