I have a 85 atc 250r. May need to end up replacing the rear axle. Will any other axles fit? Like a trx 250r or I thought I read somewhere a 400ex may work? I would be using it with a stock setup otherwise.

You should be able to use a 300ex,400ex,trx250r axle

From what I've found so far if I use a 400ex axle, I'll need to get 400ex hubs. Is that all? Will everything else switch over? How about the trx 250r axle. Will everything switch over and fit?

I read that I would need the wheel hubs from a 400ex also. I'm wanting to find out if the brake rotor and sprocket from the 250r would fit and line up on the 400ex axle?

I don't know about 400ex and others, but '86-'87 TRX axle will work, not sure about '88-'89. I have an '86-'87 spec Durablue in my '85 right now.

Looking at Durablue's page, it appears all 250r axles are the same (same root part number), but with the '85 one has to use the '86 and later sprocket and bolts. http://www.durablue.com/prod_display/axles/5/0.php.htm

if you dont have limited funds i'd buy a new durablue over a stock axle. most of the bearings are the same ID on the axles its just different carrier widths.
