Couple questions about my 1983 ytm 200k??

Ok I just changed my oil, cleaned the screen and put in a new filter. Hows the proper way to check the oil with the dipstick? Do you just stick it in or screw it in all the way. I know my honda you dont screw it in.. One more question is on the right side of the motor, near the brake lever and oil filter housing there is a screw that say decrease or increase.. What is this for?? Just curious because my motor seems to be noisy down in that area....Thanks

check oil level with dipstick resting on threads. ( just like your honda)

increase/decrease screw on right side cover is for clutch adjustment.
