I have had this 83 Honda 200 for almost a year now. I still can not get it to start by just the pull start. I have ajusted the valves, changed the plug, tried a new carb but it just leaked from a bad float or bad drain. (eBay crap parts) It would be nice to be able to start it without bump starting it. That couldn't be good for the drive train. Any thoughts on what might be going on and what might help?

I'm sure you already checked it, but is the compression good on it. If it's low, that could be an issue.

Take out the pilot jet inside the carb, and make darn sure it is spotlesss. It has a very small hole, and the first thing to get plugged. You could use a very fine wire or guitar string to push through the hole, and then use carb cleaner and compressed air and blow through it. If all else fails, you could up the pilot jet one size larger, buy another jet. That will usually help starting it. Make sure to use a good in line fuel filter also. The other thing to check is the gap on the plug - make sure it is correct, and you could possibly run one size hotter plug.

I have not checked the compression. A good place to start, or continue the quest. I can see thru the jet. Small one correct? The tank is clean inside but you never know what's learking in all the corners. I will also check my sparkplug gap. Just rolled it over going up a hill one handed. Holding my crossbow in my lap. Sore rib and knee. I'm OK. Just scrapes. Ah battle wounds....
