If you don't want to run race fuel, then skip the high comp head gasket mod. It WILL get you into race fuel territory, at least 50/50 mix anyway...

BTW, what kind of porting are you looking at?? Low-mid, mid-top, drag??? The power curve you desire will dictate what porting and supporting mods to go for...

If you don't want to run race fuel, skip the CR gasket. Generally speaking, yes, 200psi and up is race fuel time...

And your buds 250r with "more mods"... Just piling on mods doesn't necessarily mean it is going to work. You have to decide how you want your engine to run and build it to do just that. If you want top end, bigger carb, no reed spacer, mid-top porting and a rev pipe.

If you want low-mid, go high compression, reed spacer, low-mid porting, midrange pipe, and a bit smaller on the carb.

It's not about how many mods are thrown at an engine. It's about the right combination of mods and porting.

And I have to add, having a slightly bigger carb than what is considered ideal isn't going to hurt you that bad. But it will have some effect. I ran a 38mm A/S on my engine that was stock porting, but had other bolt-on type mods for low-end and midrange. And if you think that old setup was slow in up top I have news for ya. You could just tell the meat of the powercurve was in midrange
