LOL Jason, I showed you the 200x pics and you know I can't post 'em. Are you allowed to drive anywhere? I may be coming back up to where we met for another meeting to exchange parts this sunday.

That right thee is a freakin gem!! Bobby Beh,,I remember him! That tank is a ,,well,,,,a try at a copy of Pete Fishers work. If Mickey sees this,he'll immediately recognize that! It took Pete 2 or so days I think he said to do his. And he hated every second of it I guess. That isn't much like his,,but a darn good attempt, and gets the job done! Very neat piece Jason !!!

Thanks man! I have an old 200x pipe that runs under the motor too like mickeys 250x bike...I'm gonna attempt to build my own version. Obviously it won't be exact but an honest privateer attempt. I have gold wheels to boot!! Oh an SRP rear fenders, but my motor won't be as trick at a mickeys 250.

Good fun..

Jason, sorry I missed your band when they came around. You're going to have to send me a link. Are you all heeled up yet? I bet you can't wait to get out there and start bashing handlebars again! LOL Are you coming down to Elmyra? I hope the Tiger makes it again this year and it would be great to talk to you again. I was thinking about an embroidered jacket of some kind too. How are those hubs coming along? Was thinking about those in a Tiger bolt pattern. I have no idea what the front hub would look like or what wheels I would have to use. The 57 is coming along real slow. Too bad your not closer. I could use some barn space and a spare hand to get all the stuff for the 57 finished. LOL

It's great to see so many race machines. I'm new to the site and it really looked like the trend here was factory restoration to maintain the value. While I have nothing against that type of build, the imagination and effort it takes to build a custom race machine is what floats my boat. All the really intriguing executions of a vision are fantastic.

Survivors in mint shape tend to get hard to find unrestored after 30 years.I'm not knocking Jason's New bike, but it's hardly mint, nice yes, and in my opinion a perfect candidate for a racer. Hey guy's, first and foremost…. don't let the photo's fool ya. Its far from mint.. Yes it is pretty original but that being said, I've been in my unheated shop the last few nights thrashing to get it ready. So far, I bought a grab bar, handle bars, clutch/brake levers, exhaust, replaced the rear axle cause it was bent.. discovered the original axle and swing arm bearings were roached. Thankfully I've had some parts and know how to do the work… Its a great runner though… And yes when its done it will be in much better shape than it is now. Plus hopefully be a little quicker. Ive sorta given up on nos and vintage parts to a degree.. its strictly a hobby, and i want to see how good i can get with an off the shelf type bike. There are a few other 200x guys near me so I'm looking forward to seeing how it stacks up.

I usually have a very good memory.....but I can't recall the exact specifics. The motor was built by Danny Duncan of Danny's Machine Works (Now Duncan Racing)
I know it was bored and stroked to the maximum displacement but still legal to run in the 200 Class.

In one of the pictures I see a copper line...is that an old school oil line to let oil soak the cam?

I love the modified tank and extended swinger (looks like westcoast paint). Do you remember the exhaust?....I can't read the sticker on the megaphone.

Thanks for the compliments on the bike. I really wish I could find at least one of my old race bikes.
The line you see is actually an Oil By Pass system. It took the oil directly from the lower cases up to the head with out having to go thru the cylinder to get there. Helped keep the oil cool as well as eliminating poor oil flow up to the cam.
I did run a Westcoast on both my TT and MX bikes. The pipe was a Bassani with the rear section cut off 3" IIRC.

Just got the bike unloaded from ice racing today, it ran great! Took second place to Eric Tilton. We all had a great time, actually had enough guys to have a seperate 200x class!

Here is a link to the ice race.. We had a 200x class. Trizilla (Eric) took first and I took second. I can honestly say we were both glad to finally have a 200x class. Nothing against anyone or anyone's bikes but 200x's mixed with liquid cooled 250r's or 310 isn't even close. Anyway hope to do more racing soon!

Just curious slash, why you posting everyone elses' pictures? Also I like how you mention the 185/500cc nitro powered trike. You described that as wrong as well. Thanks for all your input.

I was being nice, wasn't I? So what exactly constitutes 200x class racer? Does it have to be a 200x or 200x powered? I'm so curious. 200x powered could be interesting.

I posted random pictures I found on the Internet. If you read the top you'll see I mentioned they weren't all 200x's but there isn't specific threads for everything so I figured this was the best place for some vintage photos. If anyone has an issue with me posting picture I found interesting the i won't post things I find and you all can look them up yourselves. I thought they were cool.

I think what veal is saying that this or was a dedicated 200x thread so why post photos of other machines? They are cool photos, but maybe a little off the 200x flat track subject at hand.

And I made it very clear there wasn't any other specific threads for posting them in. Thought I admit I was being a bit lazy at the time and didn't want to start a new thread, or threads, since there is so many various machines.

But since everyone is going to trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro, I just won't post.

Well technically it's my dad's, but I'm trying to get it off him since he almost never uses it. It's been out like twice in the last year or two and it sat for like 6-7 before that in my shed, where it's at now. Indian Falls is about 7 miles north of Darien Lake, and about 12 east of Batavia. The one we have I want to keep just for trails but if I get another one I have thrown the idea around of either restoring it or racing it, not really sure. Flat track might be fun but I'm also interested in the MX track we have near here. I see you are in Rochester, I have family there and am up there frequently. Once I get my van back on the road in the summer I would LOVE to come riding with some of you guys, there is almost nowhere around here to legally ride.

jsmay
02-06-2014, 06:20 PM
i actually started racing because there isnt anywhere here ride either! there is some races this summer in batavia.. and a flat track/tt track 35 min east of rochester. At least 200x's are cheap and plentiful.

Haha how funny! Yeah I know they have races in Batavia but wasn't sure they allowed three wheelers. There is an MX track that sits along the thruway just outside of town closer to me, and there is a dirt track they race cars on at the opposite end. We have some local trails but nothing great, just a set of railroad tracks and company property you are technically trespassing on. It sucks. No one wants you on their property. Good to here Batavia is hosting some trike races though, didn't think they were all that common around here. Couple of my friends used to race dirt bikes years back.

My X isn't even remotely ready for any competition racing anyways. Needs a lot of work even though it's clean, most of it being general maintenance from sitting. Needs a front tire, possibly a back if I can't patch it (not for racing anyways), a chain, full fluids change, and fork boots. Motor might be a little tired, as far as I know it's never been rebuilt, but it doesn't smoke. All stock motor, even has the baffle in the stock pipe. It has quite a lot of miles on it. Need to tighten the shifter lever too, has some slop.

Well sounds just like the bike I fixed up last week! I did bearings/exhaust/grab bar/handle bars/ a rear axle. Lol as for the 200x bikes around here not many are "built". Some have pipes... As far as I'm concerned it's about fun. Not about putting a fortune into a bike and then not riding it... My bike, like most things I build are built on a budget and built to last. No crazy motor work which kills reliability. Slap a set of tires on it, get a new chain as sprocket set, flush the oil.. An head to the track!

Yeah I hear ya. I have seen an X or two but not all the time and you are right about them being mostly stock. I low to ride them but I like to make them look nice as well. Ill put tires on it and a chain, sprockets look really good with almost no visible wear. I know its good practice to change em at the same time but I'm so broke its out of the question. I don't know how I'm gonna even get a tire especially since my car needs work. Once I get it going ill holler. The big thing is a carb cleaning.

You know slash, you can make a request to the mods to move your posts 106 and 107 to a new thread. I'll ask you to do it to show that I don't have it in for you. Trust me, I have a real passion for the old, unusual and wide tire machines, just check my signature. I also try and look out for my friends too, of which Jsmay is one. I see recent pictures of Tommy Gaian, but I notice you show no pictures of his old racing 200x, a truly unique machine. I also sent Jason some 200x pics in the past and asked him not to show them, since they weren't mine to publicly show, which he had no problem with. I don't really like being a bully or a tool box, but we usually try and respect others threads, which works better somedays than others. We all enjoy great info and are not trying to stifle your input, which is appreciated, but please try to stick to the topic. You do have the option to clear this up. The choice is up to you. The decision will go along way towards your credibility on here. Your call my friend.
