Hello all, I just aquired a 1985 Tri-Z and was wondering if any of the Gurus out there could suggest a more readily available headlight assembly for it. I have hung a 1985 250R headlight assembly on it, it looks good but was wondering if there was another yamaha assembly that I could use that I wouldnt have to cut and hack my wiring harness to make it work. (that and I dont think my brother, RIDE-RED 250r, would let me live it down having a 250r headlight on my Tri-Z LOL!) I would LOVE to find an original assembly for it but all I can find is beat and broken stuff on ebay. Heres a couple pics of her. Thanks guys!

if you can find a housing, the lens housings from a kawasaki bayou 220\250 are the same.

There are some on ebay, the pig tails with the bulb sockets can be used from old Blasters and Warriors work with a little wire cramping too, so I've heard.

I got a few faded yellow ones .. you could paint black.. let me know. fix that steering stop on the neck... that's a good size dent in the frame from the fork.

If you guys aren't in a rush, I will be going through the next metric ton of my Z collection to sort out and sell this winter. I know for fact i have a few headlight assemblies and one cherry black one.

You can put one of these on for less than I've seem used stockers sell for. I did have to make a small bracket to make sure it was really secure at the bottom and to get the angle right, but a couple cable ties could work too. The one listed below is black.

There are some single bulb light options available too.

Thanks for all the replies guys! soooo much to consider! LOL! Raffa: yeah thats also on my list of to-do's, LOL! good eye, I didnt notice the dent and steering stops untill the other day. LOL! Im thinking I may look for another frame but havent decided yet. The sub frame is tweeked just a bit at the grab bar ends and like you mentioned the dent. I also think the neck where the triple tree is attatched to the frame (dont know the acual term for it ) may also be tweeked, looks like the entire front end is leaning to the right from straight on. she definately needs some loving but it will be worth it.

Hey Moose! Check out El Camexican's profile, look at threads started by El Camexican and find his thread about the "Quazi KTM" trike he built.. VERY nice.

I'm still hoping to finish buying my ice racing setup components for Raffa's Icefest this feb.. I think you should come with! I know I'm looking forward to meeting some of these guys there.

Understood. I didn't know if you were into totally reworking frames or not.

Raffa: I appreciate the offer and am very interested. The only thing thats a hold back on it is my budget. It may take me a bit to save the $ to buy a frame from ya. As Joe (ride-red 250r) asked, what do you get for a frame? And feel free to PM me if you wanna keep it private. Either way thanks! Rode it today and other than getting some smaller pilot jets I LOVE it!!! It scared me the other night though when I went to top off the trans oil and found the drain plug missing! I pulled a bad rookie move by not checking it, but so far no damage found. toped it off and installed a drain plug out of a 250r engine Joe had laying around. Nothing like the rush of riding a 2-stroke when she hits the pipe!
