To make this a quick story, my cuz broke down riding his 250R, so I towed him back to the truck and started to check why it died. While kicking it, one of the head bolts jumped out onto the ground -___-. Appears the last owner jb weilded the bolt in. Three other head bolts were loose and the head gasket is blown. He traded his 250x quad for the 250r, besides the stiched fenders, worn out bearings, suspension issues, and now the engine trouble, the bike is complete and looks fair. The 250x was fine besides a intermittant spark issue.

Anyway onto my question...

He is bumed about it and hasn't touched it yet, has no job, etc. Has anyone drilled out one of the head bolt holes and retapped it to the next step up bolt size? I would suspect it would be only a temp fix for a year or 2 till he gets a job and puts a real effort into fixing it. He didn't really look over the machine very well when he did the trade.
