OK, I have been trying to find out about this swing arm because it seems to be different than any others I have seen before. The difference Im talking about is the tube that clamps around the bearing retainer. I've looked at hundreds of pics for swing arms for my '85 250 R as well as other models and have yet to see any like this one. It has 2 flanges with 4 bolts to clamp down on the retainer and all of the others I have seen use bolts thru a tube configuration to clamp the retainer. Does anybody know what I have here or is this something that some one has kinda cobbled together in the past?http://www.3wheelerworld.com/images/smilies/wondering.gif

(ATC300R) so you think the flanges I mentioned have been added by a previous owner then?

it definantly looks like a stocker that someone welded a flange on the end, you can still see the slits for the 2 rubber seal, somone prob broke an ear off and "fixed"it, but def a stock 86 because of the different brake braket retaining tab

So do you think I should get another swingarm? Basically, can you see any problems with using this swingarm, will there be any problems long term by keeping it?
