Well after watching all of these other projects on the forum I decided why not start my own. My first 3 wheeler I grew up riding was a couple of 77 ATC 90's. Well 90's are starting to become far and between I picked up 2 1974 90's. I have some nice plans for the one I am restoring:lol:. But it's all a matter of money and time. And as of right now I'm doing paint and getting it looking good. And when winter rolls around I'm doing the motor. I have been buying goodies here and there for this project from the forum members. And I have to say it this thing will be pretty awesome I will be posting pics when I receive my parts and keeping you guys updated. Here are a couple pics. One is what it looked like before I began. The other 2 are what I did today tore it all down and pushed it to the car wash up the street to degrease it. I'm on shift work so I work on it when I can. Next thing is Painting the frame!!154460154461154462

very cool man! And that seat is pretty sweet, totally retro! sounds like youre really working on doing this build up right. My only suggestion is to powdercoat and not paint anything, paint is not a great option for anything that wont be sitting somewhere on a shelf lol otherwise great start! cant wait to see this thing after wards, I love the title btw

Great thread , missed this one some how !
You do know you will have to bore your 90 cases to accept the 110 cylinder and use the 110 cylinder studs .
Also were did you find that seat ? Awesome !!!!!!
If you need hop up 90/110 parts let me know .
90guy
10-02-2012, 07:54 PM
Thanks guys prob won't ride it to much. Do I have to put the studs In if its a 104cc cylinder? And got the seat cover from 90 crazy
shortline10
10-02-2012, 08:06 PM
If your using a stock 105cc atc110 cylinder you will have to bore your cases and yes the cylinder is 3/8" longer than a 90 cylinder so you need the 110 longer cylinder studs .
90/110 motors look the same but are very different when it comes to the crank and cylinder .

And he is going to do the same work actually a little less now! I am soooo excited to get this! lol Here is a pic of some goodies Mike is putting it together with.165650

You must feel like a kid at Christmas. No doubt this motor will be done right. Can't wait to see it come together. What wound up being the issue or issues with the first motor? I've opened up a couple cases here and there that have had me saying Wtf? :wondering Whenever I think I've seen it all.
90guy
03-21-2013, 07:44 AM
Oh yeah most defiantly a kid at Christmas haha. No certain. Mike got the package and said there was oil all over the bottom and dents in the bottom where the motor had been dropped. No doubt there is something cracked. So I will just do a 110 lol don't have to find 110 studs or crack the cases and then bore them to fit the cylinder. Saves him some labor.
Great post. Thanks 90guy. I needed some ideas. Just picked up an atc70 last week. 110 sounds great. Keep us posted. trike on brother.

Well I have a problem on deciding lol I put the 2 place forks on without the fender and I don't know which ones I want to run with fender or without fender! Waiting for some paint to dry for my fender mounting brackets before I get some pics up! I am debating on Painting my turbos to match the body color? Any one wanna chime in? I can take a fender to hedahls and they say they can match it and put it into a Spray Can. But I am making progress and am pumped. Also not certain what I want to run for tires on this thing. I have been looking at old school race pics and they ran knobbys. So I am thinking of keeping them. Any advice our opinions are always taken into mind. Thanks!

Hahaha yeah I was going to keep it simple but so many great people on the forum with awesome prices didn't help me want to keep it stock! lol I was able to sweet talk the mechanics supervisor at work to see if I would be able to use the mechanics blast cabinet! Well this cabinet is huge fit the frame no problem. Got it all blasted including the exhaust. I primed it and put the first coat of paint on the exhaust. Have to wait for the rain to stop before I paint. Way to much moisture in the garage.

We'll got my frame sand blaster primed painted and cleared got the new bearings in the holder. Cleaned my axle up today. Our the carrier in was going to start making progress to realize I can't put the axle in because I don't have my sprocket yet... Stupid me!

And scored some sweet turbo on the bay a while back not in the nicest shape. But I had them sent to greg at Gkingpolishing. And I got a little teaser of what they look like. These are the legit PCCC not the bapp ones I have lol. :naughty:

Remove the rubber and use a long piece of pipe slipped over the bent peg and bend away . 5 minuet fix .

Looks like a fun project with all the unexpected events that happened along the way. Question on the rear axle and hubs, are you running the old 4 or five spline, three stud hubs designed for the balloon tires or the newer, four bolt fine spline hubs? I'm liking the look of you covers but aren't sure I can get away with them on my 73 US90 build with the older hubs. I also ordered a 110 motor from shortline, I pick it up in FL in three weeks ;-)
I hope you get the decals from Blue 27. His work is second to none.

Rocking a fine splined axle I picked up from the captain. Just decided it would be easier to find parts for with the fine splined axle and hubs. Would be interesting to see the covers on a 73. I remember reading that you where having a 125 built up from Mike. Sounds to be about the same motor as this one! I am excited to see that one come together! As for decals I have absolutely no idea what I want to do on the tank. Kinda bothers me.

Thanks for the info 90guy! I'm going to see how they look on my build. Are they tight to the axle shaft? Time to get off my azz and start a build thread.

That looks awesome! Great job on that build. My suggestion is just for yourself to see if you like, slide the forks up in the clamps a few inches and see what you think.

Just got a go pro yesterday will be learning how to use it haha. Just wanted to post a little ride of it. Defiantly not jetted for this weather. Also lost my muffler hanger... Sad day..... Couldn't figure out why it was backfiring a lot that explained it! Need to find another. Can't wait for summer!

I used to use Zip Ties around the smaller end of the boot to hold them in place.

Well Been dinking around with it. Now I have a problem where I hold it wide open it will rev to a point and cut out kind of like a rev limiter. I tried to run the choke when it was doing this and no change. What could cause this? Running to rich? This thing start perfect. pull the choke 1 pull and running till I shut it off. Thanks

Try a new spark plug and adjust the points and if that doesn't work lean the jetting a little and see if that clears it up . A weak spark will act like a rich condition ......

Thanks Mike, I was curious on that. Wasnt sure if spark would cause a condition like this. I will pick up a new pug tomorrow and try it again. Fingers are crossed as it just started doing this.

The pilot is likely fine if it starts one pull.

Still playing around with the carb. Still a little boggy on the bottom. But its not cutting out like it did anymore. Here is a little video of how it sits now.

I would play around with the points timing , advance or retard it a little either way and see if that helps . Also are you using a short intake manifold ?
90guy
08-27-2014, 02:04 PM
OK I'll adjust that a little. Yup still with the shorty. I remember you sating had problems with a shorty on yours.

Yes the bottom end hick ups are easier to tune with a long manifold .

what's your next project going to be, I have one sitting here that I am losing interest in decently fast, next spring I might be more inclined to finish it, but not the rest of the summer.
