So I saw an ad on pennswood for an 85.5 tri z and said he modded his expansion chamber by making a 11 mm cut into the the middle bottom where it exits the cylinder not sure exactly wat he means but has anyone ever done this and if they have does it make a difference in performance

Personally, I think that's one of the stupidest modifications anyone has ever made to a ring dinger's pipe, but feel free to try and give a report.

I was thinking the same thing I didn't really plan on doing it no point in cutting up a nice exhaust unless there are actually ppl interested in this I could do it and do a review

Think that was mentiond in the "wrench report" mod list of the z, help move the power up a bit further in the rpm range by shorting the overall length, people play with pipes all the time...id say run it if you have it see how it compares...:beer

That mod was a big thing for sleds, bikes and any other 2 stroke in the 70's and early 80's. Like MTS said, it added a few RPM and it was in the Wrench Report.
