I got a 79 110 for free and it needed a case half because the case was cracked and missing a chunk near the sprocket. I rebuilt the engine, and now that it's all back together I can't get it running right. It has a brand new KAN TAI carb on it with a pod filter and just a short piece of pipe for exhaust (I'm currently looking for stock exhaust and an air box setup for it).

It runs great at idle, but off idle it bogs down and barely stays running, but if I just ease on the throttle it will throttle up, (only in neutral though, it still bogs down if it's in gear). I've tried every clip position on the needle and have adjusted the carb and no matter what it's always the same results.

Could the lack of exhaust and pod filter be the whole cause of my problem? I've also been considering an electric start 110 lifan, but I only see those being put in atc 70's...

With the straight pipe exhaust your probably running a bit lean, a larger jet is probably needed but i would put a real exhaust on it first.

Of course everyone can fully answer your question not knowing the condition of anything else on your trike. Not that bad bearings or a rusty chain or that a sticking throttle cable or bad wiring would ever have any kind of effect about the operation of your trike. LOL
