I got my bike running well now, but the exhaust leaks like a sift right where the header and mufler come together. I may just need a clamp , but what i dont understand is how it works. The pipes are rigid and there is not slot for the pipe to calmp onto the muffler. The header slides right into it but i just dont get how the clamp can tighten two pieces of solid pipe? I guess what i want to know is do i have to get a oem clamp for it to work, what is the best way to fix this, i now i need to take it Aparts and wire brush it really good, but i just want to do this only one time, if ya know what i mean. any helps , tips , hints, anything you have will be greatly appreciated. I really like this forum and i have already met a few good friends.
Thanks

Sounds to me like your missing the gasket that goes into the muffler end. The head pipe then slides into the gasket and a clamp holds them tight together. Its a sleeve like gasket. Cost about $10 from honda

i imagine you could also use muffler tape

You could use high temp silicone on the 2 also.

Look your model up on just about any online parts store. Most will show you an exploded view of what ever section your trouble shooting. Heres a link to cheap cycle parts .com (not always the cheapest) showing you exhaust set up and you can also retrieve part #'s for reference if you want to just go to your local parts store or on Ebay. http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_years/133/assemblies/2714-muffler You can also get manuals to down load off of this site for your model.
