Ok, so this is my situation. I work out of town, and have been ordering parts to repair my recently blown motor in my 85 x. lookin to hear what I can expect for performance comparison.
So far I have a web cams 214 cam and springs, a 27mm dg carb with bored intake, a 12 to 1 piston .020 over. A dg aluminum muffler off a 350x with a custom self fabbed 1-3/8” head pipe, trimmed the valves down and some mild port work to the boles.
One more week till I get home to assemble it! Do any of you out there have a similar setup?
Forgot about the new clutch, 11 tooth sprocket, and 24” mudlites on 11” wheels.

Will it smoke a blaster? hang with a 350x?

I bet it'll take a Blaster no problem.

You won't be with a 350X,,unless it's tired,,,which 95% of them out there are. The Blasters gonna own you out of the hole,,the rest should be close. Again,,assuming the Blasters average to tired. If it's fresh w a good pipe,,they are NO joke ! But,,,most are junk. Just depends on who owns it. At least you'll have ground clearance !!

12:1 is not good for the 85 200X unless changes are made to the internal kickstarter gears. You'll be splitting the cases again if you just use the old setup. There are dozens of threads on 3WW. Use google "200X kickstarter". Some guys were shimming them or backcutting the gears.

Thanks for the input. I have seen these threads. I'll try to make it a one kick starter like most of my rides. Could even put a primer on it if I need to. Ill be researched up just in case.

I think if those were good solutions other guys would have done that rather than modding the kick starter.

That's kinda like putting a band-aid on your finger to ease a headache.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But then again, most of them think trikes are better than quads. I like them better because they’re more fun to ride.
