Hey guys,

I have the chance to pick up this Tri-z cylinder. Can anyone tell me if this is stock or if it has been ported? I have never seen a stock one in person for comparison.

Thanks,
xrider

It dont have a extra boost port and kinda hard to tell looking at the pics, exhaust port might be but no pics of that and still would be hard to see. Looks stock though!

Definately has had some stuff done on the intake side. The boost port is way larger than stock, and the casting bumps have been smoothed out in the intake bridge.

Here is stock..

Here is a Hall ported cylinder. I only had this one done mild.

Thought that boost port looked a little bigger wasn't sure though.

Its definitely got some work done to it but I'd be wary of running a Z cylinder with the boost port opened up that much...its got almost no support for the back of the sleeve ear, and the exterior casting of the cylinder around the stud holes for the base is going to be very thin with that big of a hole there..

If you are thinking about getting more performance out of your Z you'll definitely want to add another boost port to the other side. I recently added a 2nd port and it improved the performance considerably. I may have some pictures which I can post later. Look for the "Tri-Z Wrench Report" online and it will give you the details on how to do it. As noted above, when adding the port be careful to leave enough aluminum for the cylinder wall. I used a small drill bit to start the hole and got progressively bigger. Then I enlarged it with a demel tool.

Here are some before and after pictures of my Z cylinder. The first picture is the stock cylinder and the second is after I added the 2nd boost port and opened up the original. Again, you will feel the performance gains.153561153562
