Could sure use some help with this silencer. I wanted to repack my silencer (its way-way over due), & spent about 40 min. pulling tiny shreds (at a time) of oil soaked packing out of it with long needle nose pliers. This is because when I pulled the screws & endcap off, -the center tube is fixed to the other end of the canister. It does not budge- even after finally getting all the packing out little by little. I then cleaned it out with gas too. You cant see really how its held on the other end, but it is definetely held on somehow...Did they really make this center tube non-removable? I dont have the packing yet, but how do you repack it then? (The tube is not centered in the oval canister -its offset upward). I dont get it:wondering- anyone repacked one of these before? Am I overlooking something? It definitely seems like its not gonna come out. Anyone familiar with this specific silencer? I thought they where all the same WTF?- I dont have a pic technical difficulties...

I no longer have a Type II, but I used to, and I repacked it several times. That center tube should come out after removing the end cap. Yours must be very corroded if it won't budge.

O.k.-I got the damn thing out finally! I kept rinsing it with gas & eventually got it to wiggle a tiny bit. Kept rinsing.... & was able to keep working it by hand little by little to free it up more & more. It was a long process! Then spent alot more time unclogging each hole in the tube. It was about 90% clogged with very hard carbon! Used a thin small phillips screwdriver (exact size as hole) to open back up the holes. More gas & scotchbrite & now tube is clear & cleaned up & looks great & most important -undamaged!... There was no corrosion or rust inside inside. (silencer wasnt but about 5 yrs old). The problem was all the HARD carbon/oil buildup that had it all stuck & plugged up. I always ran 32:1 Benol or Supertechniplate. But it was my fault for overlooking this for so long. -It must have been robbing lots of performance for so long! It was so noisy too........Thanks

You could run a full synthetic, like Amsoil. I like the HP injector. I still mix mine at 32:1, and it runs MUCH cleaner than those Castor oils you mentioned above, and is about the same price. I have used those two oils also in the past, and my bike puked oil all over the place. Went back to synthetic and never looked back!
