hi guys i need some advice. Been looking for an aftermarket swingarm for my 86 250R and may have found one but its +2, now from what i understand extended swingarms are for for drag applications right? i ride dunes and tight trails/ tracks i dont do any dragging really. Is a +2 going to make my R handle bad and not corner as well as it does stock? i understand it will be better in a straight line but will it compromise everywhere else?

It would be great for the dunes you will be giving up alot in the tight trails /tracks in my opinion. The hondas are pretty good stock the tecates are a different story

i did a 5+ on my 430x and had to put stoppers on my steering to keep from hitting my dual oil coolers AND i still turn twice as sharp as any quad along with non stop wheelies. dont fear it! go long. im sure the 250r is faster them my 4 stroke!!

To be honest Tim, IMO the stock swingarm is a great all round swingarm (it should be, it was designed by a whole team of engineering genius')
I have never ridden an extended swinger but ive done A LOT of duning and to be honest, i dont see where the extension is warranted. I know they are very popular over in America but maybe that has more to do with their dunes. There seems to be a lot more hillshooting and dragging over there compared to our riding. Like i said, ive never used one but ive never felt that my trikes could cut sick at any moment throwing me off backwards or even lifting too often to the point where comprimising cornering ability etc is warranted.

My 250R has an aftermarket swinger though. Its stock length.

Have you considered the TRX swinger upgrade?
