I have a post going on about my psycho kickstarter and noises and need the input of those with an SX/ES. On the kickstarter, when you kick over, does it act like it won't catch sometimes? If you kick it really hard, or get towards the bottom of its travel, does it seem to just let go and then you hear something rolling (centrifigual clutch drum). I popped another centrifigual clucth and sprag in from my parts motor and it hasn't changed things a bit. Is it just that I have two bad sprags on my hands or something else. Should a buy a new drum for the cetrifigual clutch if I buy the sprag (sprag sits inside this).
Thanks for your replies.

I have the same problem on a 250sx here. I just bought a new sprag and will be installing it soon. I will let you know if it takes care of the problem.
FYI, I have replaced them ( on other machines ) in the past and it took care of it.
Thanks

Ah, thank you sir. I remember you telling me about that and of course I'm stuck in the mind set that how can the replacement can't be bad too. Haha, ever been that way before? PM me when you get it in. Did you get a price for that YTM 175 complete front wheel/axle and the pull starter? Thanks ;)

I have been so swamped at the shop to get things around.
I am taking a week off from ebay to try and catch up. I will be heading to the shop tomorrow. I have You, 3wheelhouston and HondaATC on the top of my list to take care of.
I hope packing up the Tecate stuff goes quickly tomorrow. lol
Thanks

:o MINE DID THE EXACT SAME THING :!: When my battery went dead I would kick it mabey 20 times before it would catch. I found out though that if you grab the kick starter a give it a good jeark outward then it would catch most of the time. Or you can slightly move your foot outward while kicking it over. Wear long pants when the kick starter is wet though or you will get a nasty little cut on your leg (I found out the hard way). Good Luck ;)

my 84 250R used to do that, but one day it pissed me off and i hit my leg off the peg from slipping, so i just started kicking it, and the next thing you know, it doesnt do it anymore

Boy, am I a retard. I take off the cover and some embarassing stuff for me. My replacement centrifigual clutch was not a direct replacement like I thought. My parts motor is a very early '85 model year and the one in there now is a late one. The clutches were slighty different and the drum had about an 1/4" of play in it. It that drum isn't tight, it'll will make things slip. Then I look over to the manual clutch and the freakin' nut has almost totally backed off! Then as if I don't look stupid enough I had the nice big words on the lock washers saying "This side out" facing in. Oh well, no damage done. Some loc-tite and a new sprag and we'll see.

My 250SX does that on occasion and it hurts like a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro depending on how hard you were kicking and how u hit the peg.
