Any of you P-3 owners using a pre-filter, the outer foam that you work fork oil (or any light weight oil) into,,,, my old stock set up near as I can remember did not have a pre-filter on it (been running a K+N filter for about 3 years after discovering the old stock air box was cracked up around the lower part making the filter useless).
In checking fitment of the new filter I got in mail (I swore it was gonna be too small but it fits perfect),,,, I had already asked the seller if he had the pre-filters (no),,,.
So any of you P-3 owners using a pre-filter and if you know where to get them please direct me because I want to have on on mine but really do not want to spend the time to fab something up to save 10-20 bucks or what ever on such a simple part.
Thanks, john

I haven't used a pre-filter on any of my fleet. I can't say I have ever seen any either.

John, If you get to Kalamazoo the dealer there has some covers for other machines instock. You might see if one would work ( if your close by ).

I know one for a 92 Trailblazer will fit the circumfrence, just need to cut it down like 2" in height, since it uses the same filter just shorter than ours.

Here ya go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Trail-Blazer-250-1991-1992-1993-1994-Uni-Filter-Air-Filter-NU-8501-/400279335207?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3281f127&vxp=mtr

Like I said, make it shorter and it will fit.

All very good ideas guys ,,, but,,, the opening to slide the filter into is so small any of those thicker foams will be a little ruff to get stuffed inside the air box and near impossible to get back out in 1 piece IMO.
I done some looking around for material about 5/32 thick and found nothing suitable.
But did come across > http://www.knfilters.com/search/wrap.aspx
I am gonna do some measuring and call them next week along about Thursday/Friday ~ I have a few questions.

Yep the opening is very limited. I wonder if you could put the pre-filter in first then slide the filter into it?

I went with K+N filter using one of their pre-wraps.
Supposedly will also help shed any moisture away along with some fine dust.
I reckon my P-3 will not see any more ride time this year but will get its share at TF2013.
Properly sized for snug fit, I am glad I spent the 20 some dollars for it.

So you used a stock paper filter with a pre filter on it? or is there a K&N for the stock air box?

I bought my air filter from > http://www.ebay.com/itm/110529130983
Seemed reasonable enough. It may very well be made by K+N for all I know.

Looks like OEM Polaris to me.
