these are my first 3ww pics. the trikes are my 200x's. my '86 is beat to heck. im trying to sell it right now. things that are missing: grab bar (broken off by prev owner), tail and head light (prev owner), HUGE dent in tank (prev owner, see pic), sslightly bent axle ( i hit a tree ), oil leaks from a possible cracked case. My '83: new oem rear tires, supertrapp (see pic, would like to know how much its worth), no extended swingarm or axle (dont like it), new decals. overall its in good shape other than the rust on the tank (see pic). How can i remove this rust? do i have to powdercoat the whole tank? gimme your thoughts.
Thx a lot

I re-did the tank on my 350x a few weeks back. Sanded with a power sander, a spray coat of prime, then a couple of white enamel.

A set of cheap ebay decals..then the best part. I went to a auto-body shop and bought some clear plastic film and applied it to the side of the tank where my legs rub when I ride.

The whole thing cost less than $50 and looks great..not show room, but it's my rider not a garage queen.

Now those dents..ouch, those will be a challenge!!

I like your 83! Very cool indeed.

Were you planning on getting a body shop to pop out that dent? Regardless of whether you pop the dent out or not, BKM just powdercoated a tank for popeye. He does excellent work and his thread is below.

Fortunately, when i bought my decal kit for the whole 83, i got some tank stickers that look pretty darn close to oem. today i bought a banshee ($1000, needs new shifter), so im going to sell the '86 anyway

considering i got the 86 for 400 (guy thought it was a 125 "it sure is fast for a 125" XD) and the 83 for 500 (needed new rear tires, oem ohtsus from my local honda shop for 150) i made off with a pretty good deal
