Awhile back I put a new chain on my 81 200, then figured out I didn't have a stock rear sprocket (I have 11/43 and I ordered a chain for 11/47). My motor is out of an 85 200s (11/43 gearing). I checked and other trikes with 11/43 gearing have an 84 link chain, whereas the 81 200 has a 90 link chain (the one I bought). Does that mean I need to knock 6 links off my chain to make it fit my gearing? Are all 43 tooth sprockets the same diameter? 6 links looks like it would be a little much.

PS. I have an 81 sprocket, but I can't put it on because I don't have the damper and stuff.

I'd pull the axel in as close to the engine as possible, put the chain on the sprockets and determine the lenght (error on the side of looseness) and then cut the chain. No math required, works every time.

By pulling it in, you mean increasing the free play. That would be loosening the adjustment bolt...right? Should I come all the way out?
