OK. I know this has been talked about before. I did a search on tank interchangeability and read through the threads. Some of the information that has been posted previously is just not right. That's why I'm posting about this again.

I have a 1980 ATC110 that I'm going to do a full restore on and one of the things I need (eventually) is a fuel tank. In the postings from the search I did, it was stated in one of them that the ATC110 tanks from 1979 to 1982 were interchangeable. I don't think that is right. They may FIT on the trikes and mount the same, but they are shaped differently. The 1982 tank has a completely different shape to it. I think the 1981 tank does, as well. I think Honda really changed the shape of the ATC110 tanks in 1983 when they indented the top of the tank to accept the tongue of the seat.

I'd like to know what "tanks" mount the same AND have the same shape as the 1980 ATC110.

Are the latter 1970's ATC90 tanks the same????? Examples, 1976 and 1977 ATC90??? Are there any others???? I know much earlier ones are different because of the screw on tank badges.

From my investigation so far, I think that ATC90 fuel tanks from 1978 thru 1980 are the same AND ATC110 fuel tanks from 1979 thru 1980 (1980 obviously) are the same.

I think the 1981 and 1982 tanks are completely different shapes (although they may mount OK). Is that right???????????????????

Can anyone more knowledgeable than me chime in and let me know if that's right please. If there are others please let me know.

I would like to expand my search for a tank to include as many years of ATC110's and ATC90's as possible.

Also, I'm looking for a tire, too. Can anyone tell me what year(s) ATC90 and ATC110 that the OHTSU "SP WAMULASS" knobby tire 22X11-8 was used?

Thanks to anyone that chimes in. I know this is a lot of questions, but I would really like to get this nailed down. I'm sure it will help some others in the future, too.

1970 - 80 = same tanks and yes the 81/82 are shaped a little different and mount with bolts instead of the strap .

Thanks a LOT shortline. That helps a lot. I didn't realize that the tanks were the same all the way back to 1970. That, hopefully, will open up a lot more possibilities in finding a decent tank. I really appreciate the info man. I was starting to wonder if anyone was going to chime in.

By chance, any info on the tires that were the same? As I said, I'm trying to find one OHTSU SP WAMULASS knobby 22X11-8 for the trike. I'm not sure how I'm going to find it, but I think it would help if I new what pre-1980 ATC110 or ATC90 used those same tires. In case I find a parts machine or something, I at least will know that it did have as original equipment the same tires and may luck out if it still has one of them.

Thanks and peace.

I know it's been awhile since I started this thread, but I'm still looking for a decent tank. I came across a tank in my area that looks very similar to my old (junk) 1980 ATC110 tank. The ad says it's a tank for "Chaparral" minibikes.

Does anyone know if this Chaparral tank is the same as the OEM Honda tank? Just asking in case Chaparral made the tanks for Honda or something. I don't know, just asking.

Here's a picture of the Chaparral tank.

Thanks for the Heads-up on the OHTSU. I already saw that tire on eBay, though. I would never pay $200 for one tire. Not that one, anyway. Maybe one of the early ATC90 balloon tires, but not a knobby.

Anyways, in my post from today just above yours, I was asking about a Chaparral fuel tank that I found on Craigslist and if it is the same as the OEM metal tank for my 1980 ATC110. I mentioned the tire in my original post in this thread a lot of months back.

no that fuel tank is different but looks very similar. the tab at the back for a mounting bolt is a dead give away. that style tank for the atc has a tab in that area with an oval hole. as shortline said you need a 90 or 110 1970-80 tank
