Are the shock linkages on the 84 the same as the 83? I know the 83 has an extra hole for the shock to mount to on the part of the linkage that connects to the swingarm. I believe the 84 is the same. But if you look on Ebay (I know most of them don't know trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro) they sell a lot of them labeled as 84 without the extra hole. The shock just bolts to the place where the two parts of the linkage meet. I bought one months ago that didn't have the extra hole and then looking at the manual realized I needed one that did- I think lol, so I bought another one. Anyways, I know the 83 has the extra hole, but what about the 84. Either way, I have both. Just kinda confused. If those without the extra hole don't go on an 83, then what do they go to. Did any of that make sense.

83 an 84 are not the same .. the shock and dog bone in the linkage of the 84 are around 1" longer than the ones on the 83 ... the linkage also bolts to the swing arm further back on the 84... so nothing is a direct swap with out some milling

Thanks. So does the shock bolt to the end of the dog bone or does is bolt to the other piece that mounts to the swingarm?

on a 83 it goes to the linkage .. 84 it mounts to the end of the dog bone and linkage

Thanks. I finally figured out. Somehow or another I had parts mismatched between 83 and 84. Don't even know where they came from.
Thanks for helping me clear that up.

Now I'm looking at my shock and one of the mounts on the bottom is threaded. Seems like the bolt that holds my linkage to the dog bone is much bigger than the bolt that would thread into bottom shock mount. Does anybody have a picture of how all this bolts up?
Thanks.
