200x issue cranks over then stops

So last night was pounding the crap out of my rebuilt 200x on the trails . Then it started to make noise when i gave it the gas. It was fairly loud ticking only when i revved it .


It was doing that for about 1 min then died . I didnt want to damage anything so we just towed it home . So today while trying to diagnose it i noticed it would spin a few times then it would lock up . Once i backed it in the other direction with a wrench on the flywheel it would spin fine a fee times then sieze again . It does have good compression when it spins.

What does this sound like ? Crank rod bearings ?

Sounds like you need to pull the motor apart to diagnose your problem. It doesnt sound good any way you look at it.

Sounds like the large crank rod bearing . Either way its time to take it apart !!!!

Sounds to me like your crank bearings are fried. Time to split the cases, have fun!

wait, a ticking sound, then it only spings over so far? Thats a timing issue. your timing chain came loose and you jumped time, then running it like that, it jumped again, and now its far off enough to have the valve hitting the piston. It was exactly the same on a TRX 125 I had and that was my problem.

if it is the rod bearing you should be able to rock the flywheel back and forth to feel any play on the rod. If by some chance it did jump time like mentioned above, you will probably have to replace valves at the very least. Pull the head off the problem will be easily diagnosed.

Well i hear a banging noise and some slop when i turn the flywheel . I dont think its the valve because i can get a few full revolutions out of it before it stops . I am tearing the eneing apart tonight i have it out. Let you know what i find

the lower rod bearing is beyond fried lol split the cases earlyer .

Sorry to hear. While you are in there I would consider freshening all the bearings. Gives you a nice piece of mind.

If you buy the bearings and ship your stuff to mike at HRE, he would probably be able to press them on for you. He is also located in Pennsylvania.

Thanks . Not sure what route to take on this . Does anyone know a good place to get a rebuilt crank or one that rebuild this one ?any good enige shop should be able to turn the crank but is the bearing avaiable?If an undersize bearing is available what sizes can you get and how far down does the crank need to go? I would suggest getting it to a good shop.

These are press apart Ben. No turning or undersizes. That would have made WAY too much sense! Gotta know what you're doing sliding that new rod pin and bearing in there at 20 tons. The crank halves like to score real easy : )
