Scrub a dub dub my plastics yellow again!!

Thought I would put up a few pictures of my 1983 ytm before and after I scrubbed them for a week. The gas tank shroud was the worst because the plastic was a little different but everything came out good I would say. I used a medium steel wool to get the heavy baked on dirt and oxidation off than switched to a fine steel wool and went over each piece several more times!! A week later 5 tubes of pepsodent toothpaste and 2 bags of steel wool later and she is shiny and yellow again:w00t: Use gloves as your hands will take a beating but I found this method to work best for my circumstances..Tried wet sanding but did not work this well..151835151836151837

I got a Blue 200E, not as bad as your before..but I think I might follow your lead!

Good job!! Yamaha yellow plastic is tough to get looking that good again. I gave up trying to make my YT look nice lol.

and I also did my stock tank for the 250r with steel wool and got the faded redness off and made it shine. steel wool is good stuff, just hit it with some armorall or plastic prep stuff to get it shiney

I'll make them bigger later when i have more patience for this slow comp and go back on photobucket. Right now its a scorcher here in maine!! I'm going outside to sit in a lawn chair in the lake and drink some bud lights:naughty:

I tested it on the back side first. It will make swirl marks if the steel wool is too course.
