I have a buddy who has one and he can't tell me much about it so I thought I would ask around here. Its on a 83-84 lower end.

Ahhh, I see. So he'd be better off just scrapping it rather than messing with it.:lol:

In all seriousness I was thinking of seeing if he wanted to part with it but I have no idea what it is worth. I'm sure it will need a complete rebuild and I have no idea what cc the engine is.

I have seen one in usable condition with new piston kit and gaskets go for $400 a couple years ago. They are definatly a cool piece of hisory, and there are not a lot of them around. Im not sure if its as good for cooling as a liquid R, as the liquid R has a waterpump and radiators. The camex cylinder worked like a coffee machine, as the engine warms, and hot water moves to the top, it perculates. There is no water pump on that kit to pump the water, but I have heard it was a improvement over stock air cooled, especially if it was an extremely hot enviornment, like desert racing.

Does anyone have any pics of the radiator and how it was mounted or the whole kit on a bike? I'm not really finding much info on these kits.

Maybe you can try and contact Calvin Pollet?

I dont know much about them other than they are super rare. Someone posted up pix a while back and that was the first i had ever heard or seen one. Im sure they are not as effective as a liquid R but they are super rare and the coolness factor is def. there!! Good luck - i hope you can get it.

There was one year CR250 that was liquid cooled with the sprocket on the right hand side. I've seen pics of a few of those engines transplanted into an air cooled 250R. That would give you an idea on the radiators as well. I looked and couldn't find the pics but I bet someone on here has them.

From the looks of the factory race bikes of 83-84 the radiator was mounted on the forks like a Tecate and covered with a vented number plate. Ryan, I think the cr250 was a 81. It was the first liquid cooled cr and had the right chain drive. I looked for a conversion but could't find a pic of one. Surely someone has swapped those out before.

The one I'm talking about had 2 radiators mounted much like a 85/86 250R. Someone has to have a pic, maybe I'll look some more in a bit.

Found it. Not much to see though. 7.5 years ago, pretty good memory!

That is pretty cool. I wish there was better pic and story to go along with it. I have a 85-86 250r radiator, I wonder if I could do a Tiger type setup off to the side and run a shroud like that of some sort.

This doesn't look bad but I think it takes away from the original look a bit.

Yeah not to bad, but you're right it takes away from the original look and appears to look like a liquid R with a fooler stuffed into it instead of the other way around. I wonder if you could tuck the radiator behind a super scoop without the forks banging into it? A guy could guess all day long but without the bike in front of you there is no way to get an idea unless the kit had all of the original parts which it doesn't.

I think you could get it to work but I think you'd have to mount them a little lower than an 85/86 R. There really isn't too much room between the tank and fork. I think you could get away with going higher than that old pic above though. But yeah you'd just have to try.

Cool thanks Ryan. Looks like I now need to work on getting it and seeing if its worth messing with or moving it to fund the other bikes that are eating me out of house and home.

Yep, that's a Cammex, but I don't see how he routed the radiator. I think you are just going to need to get creative Bryan. I will keep looking for pics though.

Awesome pic! I could be way off here but is Marty Hart a member of this site?
The radiator is like a 1st gen Tecate, you can see the hoses going up there.

Bryan...here is a link to a picture of the kit...its the last picture.

Also, it looks like orangecnty would be a good resource as I think he has a fooler with a cammex.

I just sent orangecnty a pm so maybe he can shed some light. I believe the Marty Hart bike was a Honda Works bike and not a Cammex setup, though I could be wrong. I'm thinking the Tecate style radiator will be the easiest of the choices as far as radiator location.

My Cammex race trike had a water pump with side mount radiator. Our team trikes were all white. The one in the pic is what we sold to the public. I would be interested in that.

I got the cylinder along with the Motoplat ignition. Its gonna need a sleeve but looks like it uses a stock 83-84 sleeve so that shouldn't be to big of a deal. I still have no idea what the hell I'm gonna do with it.

Also, can I borrow your four-leaf clover some time? Talk about rare and absolutely cool!I've had some pretty neat and rare parts but the problem is I'm not rich so I get to stare at them for a while then they have to go in order to feed the other pigs I have wollering around in the garage. Its funny what a difference pictures make. I haven't had one PM since I made this thread until the day I put up pics then guys come out of the woodwork.

I'm torn on the polishing. I love the look but its only original once.
