When I saw your title,I Laughed.. Cuz the answer is what you posted. Infinity,,when you get bored enough to put it back down ,or to let the oil pump grab a slurp of oil. You can turn fairly easily while in a wheelie. I always leaned,,some use their legs. And of course,,we are talking about sitting down,,knee on the seat doesn't count : )

When I was about 15 I had a brand new Honda Rubicon. Everyday after school I would go practice riding wheelies in a open field befind my house before my parents would get home from work. Even though it was a big utility 4x4 it still would ride a nice wheelie. I rode wheelies all the way acrossed a 120acre feild for hours for about a week until the motor let go sense it was starved of oil. My dad asked the mechanic at the shop if riding wheelie would have caused it sense he found out what I was doing and the mechanic said no because you would have to ride a wheelie for miles to damage it and you couldnt ride a wheelie on a Rubicon. I guess he never rode with a 15yr old that had girls to impress.

Back in 03 I bought a new 400ex then sold it to a buddy of mine and bought a new 04 450R. Then another buddy bought a 450R and my cousin bought a 440ex. The 450R's would go at a faster speed (we all used 5th gear), but my buddy that bought my old 400ex was the champion. I've personally went 3 miles. My buddy on the 400 went 7 miles! We got it on video too! This is also while passing cars and going around curves! Steering at that speed with the front end up is easy by turning the wheels and they cut air and hanging a leg out to grab more air.
The oil pump thing is pretty interesting though. Do you think they were really running dry? I guess it all depends on the placement on the pump in the sump. But both 450's crankshafts locked up in less than 2 years of buying them brand new and mine even locked up a second time after I sold it. We changed the oil religiously with Honda synthetic. We both bought 4 year warranties so it was all on Honda's dime. But those 450s seem to eat crankshafts anyway, my brother has changed 10 of them.
I have a 400ex now but it doesn't have enough power for me to get the front end up in 5th gear. Other people can do it though. My cousin with the 440ex can ride 5th gear wheelies on a stock 300ex.

While I have spent my share of time on the rears on a Rubicon,,,That aint easy! Especially the old styles! I hope you got the girls! That is actually kind of a funny story.. Rincons aren't too bad. My preference was always,,Big surprise,Big Reds, and 200X's. 350X's weren't even challenging, except balancing a LONG ways. 89 TRX 250R's.. Wow,,they come up on the word go!

Those were the good old days. When people would see us coming they would signal with their hands - front end up! lol. All of us sold those bikes other than my cousin with the 440ex, he still does this. lol.

I never could ride those damn things. I tried hot dickin it one day about 18 years ago on my 250r and flipped over backward on a gravel road. Bent the grab bar and ripped the rear fender in about three pieces. That was the last time I tried that crap.

You have to be ready on the rear brake. I scraped the grab bar on my 450R doing a 5th gear wheelie up a hill! Trashed grab bar, tail light and my Yoshimura exhaust end cap. I was bumming. I was able to buy a new end cap from Yoshi, I still have the old one!

200X or 350X are the easiest to learn control on. Foot ready on the brake to bring her back down.

Till I run out of room. I like stand up wheelies, with my feet on the pegs. Do some of those for an afternoon and then tell me how your shoulders feel. Good workout.

yes sitting down or standing up.. no feet on the grab bar or knee on seat. but as far as speed.. i keep a steady 4th gear (around 50mph) has the power to keep front end up at speed. but i can go around turns as well as long as i let some air out of my tires. i feel i could go longer if i could find a road thats long enough. i live in the mountains so a straight road is really hard to come by lol..

I've done a few with my feet over the bars on my 450R, only 3rd gear though. Kinda scary with no foot on the brake.
My buddy that I sold my 1st 400ex to would do them with his feet over the bars like crazy. Then he tied a string to the shifter and put it in his mouth. With both feet over the bars he would pull the front end up in first then shift through 5th without letting the front end drop using his mouth. WTF. This is no joke, seen it many times. Who does that! I'm laughing just thinking about it.

I don't think any of us ever tried a one hander.

The Rubi was the old body style I think it was a 03 if I remember right. As for getting the girls IDK if it helped. The girls all watched and smiled and thought it was cool but the gal I've been with for 7 yrs and engaged to has prolly only seen me ride a hand full of times and that was usually at some kind of race that I got my butt handed to me at:lol:

I've had the 400ex's and they ride wheelie like they are made for it. But the easiest trike Ive had is my 225dx. that think is a wheelie machine! 5Th gear wheelies all day long!

My wheelies are measured in feet not miles. OK. I'll fess up to being a knee wheelier. I don't do many sitting wheelies, but I've been practicing a little at a time. I have a phobia about going over backwards. I need to practice not leaning forward too far when I feel like I'm going over backwards, cuz in reality, I'm probably no where near going over. But it sure feels like it. Maybe I should just put one of those 6 pack racks on my 200S to keep me from goin over?

I took my Son and his one friend from watching in complete awe to doing it on their own. Really cool. My Dad hates that kind of riding! But I told him I way rather they're doing it HERE in our fields in front of me,than anywhere else! This is all on TRX 250X's : ( . Which are harder than 3 wheels. The one actually has a huge 6 pack rack, and yes, Scooter,,it was an Awesome safety device!! You can stand it right on end. I always was gonna fashion up a catchcan for all the gas running out the overflows.. Never got to that..

250sx is fun to do looong, low speed, first gear balancing act wheelies. The autoclutch makes it fun. My friend had a couple SX's a couple years back and we spent alot of time entertaining ourselves trying to see who could do the slowest wheelie. We got so we could actually stop and sit there balanced for a few seconds then roll smoothly into the throttle and get going again. We also ended up doing slow 1st gear wheelies over about a 3 foot burm. It wasn't a gradual grade either. Try that sometime. Tricky going up the burm in a 1st gear wheelie without going over backwards, then lean back hard and hit the gas hard enough to not lose the wheelie all the way down the other side. Then we ended up making the rule that if the grab bar hit the dirt on the descent back down the other side of the burm the run didn't count. Lots of fun!

Not real dangerous, but fun and challenging!

On a 200? Is that possable? Can't say I would be able to get the heavy front end off the ground at all. I think it would look like a baby elephant on its hind legs.

3 wheelers in general wheelie nicely lolI would pay to see a good wheelie on my ytm 200! When I was 16 I had a blaster I could pull up in first and ride out to fifth for as long as I wanted. My tecates however will do nice power wheelies but it's hard to do a controlled wheelie on them, they kinda have a mind of their own when it comes to power on or power off.

Oh man, the YTM 200 is a wheelie machine. I actually sold mine because it was way too light on the front end for my taste in trail riding. You pretty much had to lay on the handlebars to climb any kind of steep incline. Even turning trail speeds took way to much body english compared to other 3wheeler as the front tire wanted to push instead of turn. Alot of its "Problems" came from the engine being so far back in the frame.

From my experience it's usually really easy to get the front end up in the air on a 3 wheeler but harder to ride a long wheelie. Maybe I just need more practice, dunno. Thats probably just me because it doesn't make much sense. lol.
I was thinking back on the wheelies we used to ride and was talking to my buddy that also had a 450 and remembered something else. When riding a wheelie for that long the front tires stop moving. When you land it the front tires would roll smoke. Awesome.

i remember when we were first learning to do wheelies and were new to trikes. my brother just picked up his Tri-Z that didnt run right all the time; i had the front up riding down the pavement and something cleared out and that thing looped on me! I was sliding down the pavement on my helmet and jeans wadded up. Still have a massive road rash mark on my helmet from it (like 6 years ago).

Im getting decent at holding wheelies on my 250r with the +6 swinger, feels kinda scary because your so much higher than stock durring a wheelie.

well there was a time when i could wheelie a br for a pretty long time, slow or fast didn't matter to me, i could even do the one hander, I could do the same thing when my 200x was a auto-x, my 350x will power wheelie with out even looking. 18'' tires and stock gear ratio really helps with that. 151805151806151807151808151809151810

Maybe not one of my longest wheelies, but one of the ones I will remember. At Dune Fest, Climbing Banshee Hill, I pulled the front end up coming out of the funnel, all the way to the top. If you aren't familiar with the hill, its about 75-100 yards at a 45° or steeper angle. Just a cool moment IMO :D

The ol' 600X (white trike) with the front end up smoking a Raptor and a really nice 250R. You could wheelie that thing anywhere in the dunes. I could go up and down dunes, razorbacks obviously didn't work out. Preferred method over the whoops was third gear with the front in the air. It was pretty common to pass everyone while drag racing on just the back wheels.

For me the faster you are going the easier a wheelie is to ride for a long distance. On our 450R's we would ride wheelies for miles at 70mph+. I no longer have anything that can pull the front end up at that speed so the longest wheelies I can do now is probably a few hundred feet.

My brother and I can go for miles next to each other on our bikes, cause i can steer my bike. He can go much further than I can on a wheeler cause he weighs more so he can lean and smash the tires down enough to stay on the road if I let out almost all the air I can go for a ways. Hes gone 2 miles on his 200s haha we wheelie our 200s's around the yard for fun and if you turn the bars all the way right and run the throttle and footbrake while hangin the other arm out the side sittin down we can ride by and give each other high fives. We also have slowly wheelied up to each other and touched our front tires together and stayed there which took a few attempts, going to fast results in two balloon tires bouncing apart violently lol. its fun wheelying all the way up and down driveway approaches too.
