I got a new set of grips today. Since I've never done this before, anyone got any tips or tricks? I guess I need some grip glue.

There are threads about this all over, pages long! Listen ,do this, and forget them!Remove old grips, install new grips after spraying any paint in them, let the paint dry over night. They will NEVER twist and you WILL have to cut them off next time. End of story. Use air under the grip,if you absolutely can't get it slid on and lined up. that's it!

what do you mean by "use air under the grip" if you cant get it slid on?

Paint? Interesting.

Yep,any spray paint, any color, Some grips are a chore to get slid on and in place the way you want. An air nozzle blast under the new grip makes a pocket of air between the new grip and bar.

what do you mean by "use air under the grip" if you cant get it slid on?Take a air nozzle and slip it in under the grip just as it goes on the handle bar. Give it a couple quick blips of the nozzle and it will expand the grip allowing it to slide over the handle bar. I install all my grips like this.

^^I use that same compressed air trick to take the hide off a whitetail. It saves a lot of cutting when done on all four legs about halfway up.

Rubbing alcohol works great. It makes the grip slickery and dries with no residue. I never use glue. I clean bar and alcohol makes them stick even when everything else is wet and to get them off, I shoot alcohol back under the grip then hit it with air. The grips always slide right off

I just use either spit or window cleaner. They slide right on and never move. Have to cut them off when you do want them off. Put them on, get them how you want and then leave them alone for a while. I usually let mine sit over night. Never had a problem with them twisting or coming off.

I like flyingw's idea of getting them off. Wonder if you can reuse them.

I'm fairly certain if I installed my grips with WD 40 ,I would have a twist throttle on both sides. Not the effect I'm looking for.

got them on this morning. Was pretty easy. The first one was a trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro, but the second one slid right on. Plus, they have holes on the end of them, so I just kind of wacked them with my palm and it acted like a pump....putting little air pockets in it.

Thanks all.

Ive noticed scott grip glue does not hold up at all. after a bit of use your grips start twisting, and then when your pulling on the handlebars to get out of a mud hole, The grip comes flying off!
