I really like the looks of your 250sx. I was wondering what size tire you have on the front. It looks skinny. Those are 250sx forks, right? I was wonder what brand exhaust you have on it. Can we see some pics from all angles? Nice Job

Thanks.

It is a stock 1985 250SX except when I bought it the previous owner had installed a Supertrapp and a narrow front tire. The guy claimed the narrow front was a "kit". The tire is the same as a 200X, 250R, etc. it is 23.5" dia, 8" wide and on an 11" dia. rim. I dont know what brand of rim as there is no ID on it. The rim has no offset. The stock drum/hub has had extended length wheel studs installed (replacing the originals) and there is 3/4" spacer that fits between the drum and the wheel. It is one of the main things that attracted me to this trike.

Heres what it looked like when I got it 1 year ago.

Do you like those bars that are on it now? They look really tall. Yeah I would like to get a new pipe on the SX because mine is getting rusty and there is some hole developing at the end. I have heard a lot of good things about supertrapp. You can also tune the noise level with those discs, right? Those are turf tammers on the rear in that one shot, right. Does it wheelie really easy? Mine doesn't get the front up that easy and when it does it is in 1st. gear regular not low. I can't get it up in 2nd. gear.
How does it haddle when you are racing. I have to give you tons of credit for taking a SX out on the track and racing it. What type of racing is it? Mottocross jumps or cross-country? I would really like to take mine to a cross-country race and have some fun.

mojave: yes, the supertrapp pipe fits into the stock headpipe and has a clamp at that joint (see arrow in pic below)

toyota200x: as you can see in the first pic, when I got it had these godawful low rise MX bike bars on it. I pretty much had to lean over the tank to ride it (cool on a cafe racer yes, my trike no...I'm 36 and they were killin' my back). So I found the bars you see now. the seller said they were for a 250sx but after looking at them in the flesh I knew they weren't. They are a bit tall but they actually work well for me.
Yes, the supertrapp is tuneable, mine came with 12 discs installed and I have left it that way, less discs=less noise and more backpressure. It is not quiet at all, I've spoken to some people who run 5-6 discs.
The tires in that one pic are 20x11x10 Turf Tamer AT's on aluminum rims (from ebay as you see 'em $70). One thing about putting aftermaket rims on a 250SX is trying to find something that will clear the rear brake drum, most 8" dia. wheels I tried wont work. It wheelies pretty easy. I dont pop the shifter (hard on the transmission) I just nail it. If I'm real agressive it will get the front wheel off the ground in 1st and 2nd. I wish it had 6 speeds instead of just 5.
On the MX track (thats when I run the turf tamers) it handles OK, the biggest problem is that it weighs 350+ lbs and you feel all of it on the track. Below is a pic of me at Sandvalley MX in Bartlesville Oklahoma. I dont track race it alot because I feel like I'm pushing my luck (it is almost 20 years old and was not designed for MX) but its fun to do on occasion. I mostly trail ride. I personally think the SX is the best all-around ATC that Honda made.
