I have a 86 TRI-Z with SHOT front forks.
I hear that a 250R front end can be used,
As far as i can figure i just need the fork legs, axle, caliper hub and rotor and wheel.
tried searching yahoo and on here but cannot find a definite answer.
Just want to verify this before purchasing.

You'll need the 250R's froks, hub and wheel. I can't remember which axle it uses (its been a while), but it think that it uses the Z's (someone, please confirm or correct this). You'll also need to use the Z axle/hub spacers for this to work. It will bolt right up. you'll need to shim the front caliper a bit to fit the R set-up.
I had it on my 85 TRI-Z (with 86 tripples) about 4 years ago. It worked really good, great actually. I should have never sold that bike. Hope it helps.
TORKER.

Dont do it, I have seen them on e-bay for a while now. Come pick up my ice racer and try the swap with my parts first. You could have it switched over and tested in 3 hours. If you like it, then buy.

Yes, you'll need the R brakes 2 (which are great).
