ive been working out in Niland California so i had a chance to drive over and see "slab city" its a deserted military base where all thats left is bunkers some pill boxes and slabs which once had barracks and building built on them ...well the buildings are long gone and people homestead on these slabs, also "snow bunnies" will come down from the north to stay for a while during the winter...
i was driving around looking when sudde3nly i spotted a three wheeler and had to take a closer look. thats when i met "Danny" ...... he said "Betty" was his pride and joy not to mention his only means of transportation. i had to get a pic. so i snapped a quick one and hauled arse......thought you all would enjoy
oh btw ..Glamis is about 30 miles on the other side of the pill box nestled up against the mountain range you see in the background

" Its his only mode of transportation "
He must have a big bore kit in that thing in order to get that trailer up to highway speeds.

Yeah right he is probably a lot smarter than any of us if you think about it. I bet he hasnt worked in years. He has satelite TV, warm house in the winter, a/c for summer time, and he rides a trike all the time.
If you ask me he might be a genious. ;)

Why is somebody stupid, or not smart, or a redneck just because they live in a trailer? You people with stickbuilt homes think you're so much better than us, why?

I lived in a trailer a couple times. I don't think a trailer makes you smarter or dumber. Home is where the heart is. ;) One thing about a trailer though. If you don't like the view you can hook onto it with a truck and move it. Try that with a stick house. Hmmm, maybe you are smarter in a trailer). ;)
That guy might be smarter than us. He has figured out how to live without nosey neighbors, how to not have to work, and he rides a 3 wheeler. I can only wish for no work & no nosey neighbors.

yes anyone can just move there...its located about 5 miles north east of Niland Ca.
you cant "ride" to glamis from there
slab city is a strange place...people move from spot to spot leaving their unwanted belonging behind each time..the have an open air ampetheater that looks like rows of benches set up on the set of "junkyard wars"...
i seen a guy who lives in a little POS 6'X8' travel trailer with a state of the art 25ft. tall windmill for generating power
theres even a guy there who has "painted" a hill ..his home is called "SALVATION MOUNTAIN"

You dont have much choice out there, about a trailer, since you cant build a permanent residence. There is a lot of land out there admintered by the Bureau of Land Management, and its public land, for public use, but you cant claim it and build on it. Mymint referred to these people as "snow bunnies", who are people that have homes somewhere else, usually where they experience the winter climate, and come there to spend the winter months, usually in "campers" better equipped than some homes. They used to have like a 90 day limit or something, that people could stay in one place. That was like 15 years ago when I was last there. Dont let the picture fool you. These are not transients, and they are usually not poor people. Most of them are retirees that spend their winters there like the people in the east all go to Florida. They enjoy the peace and quiet, with all the practical comforts of home. I see satelite dish, what looks like solar electric panels, and an AC unit. I wouldnt be surprised if he has interent access. Some people just happen to find more happiness in practical than "pretty and shiney". Maybe someday Ill end up parked out there when I start to find the desert climate less miserable than Ohio's winters!
