Big Red with car rims?

I found this Big Red advertised on Gumtree here in South Africa.

I would love to see how they modified this:wondering, but it is very far from where I live.

On the non-suspended trike with car wheels it would ride like a wheelbarrow..especially while leaving the balloon on front. Talk about an understeer machine!!!

Better come with a kidney belt!

There probably wasnt any modifications needed. THe 4x110 bolt pattern is/was used on a few automobiles, so it was probably a bolt on deal.

There is plenty of smaller cars that use the 4x110 pattern. Its ghetto looking for sure, but otherwise its not in too bad of a shape other then the chopped fenders.

Did many 85-86 models show up in South Africa?? That is of course when so many of the refinements come in.

To the best of my knowledge the 250ES and 350X were not sold here:cry:, I have spoken to a few older guys here who also have trikes and they confirmed this. The 200X(not the 86/87 model) and 250R were sold here, I have only seen one 250R though(air cooled one) and a few 200X(83 to 85) models for sale.A 200X is on my wish list:rolleyes:
Most 200E/ES landed up on farms and have had very tough lives(like most of mine went I got them). The trike I have seen the most for sale is the ATC 70 but they still don't come up that often.
I got most of my Big Reds through WANTED ads I placed.
But I think I need to stop placing ads as I just keep bring more trikes home:D

I suppose I can only dream about the 250ES.
I printed the brochures from this site a while back and started looking here but no luck and it does seem they were never sold here.
It looks like they are such a HUGE improvement over the 200ES.
Although one thing with the 200ES I can get some pirate parts which are common to the XR200, I would think the 200X has even more in common with the XR.
Does the 250ES have anything in common with other Honda models?
I just bought a 98 XR200 and a 2001 Suzuki TS185 the other day for a steal.
The XR was actually for my brother I just organised it for him while he was out of the country in Houston on business.

Well the 250es then became the 250fourtrax when they stopped building trikes..pretty much the same as the BR but with as extra wheel..

This the became the blueprint design for the most of the fourtrax quads for years to come..I guess you could say Big Red was grandfather to most of the Honda quad line. Now exactly which parts are take offs I couldn't list exactly.

Are you planning on smuggling a Big Red into the country one quad part at a time?:D

Thanks, I just did a search seems the trx250 was sold here and come think of it I have seen them before but the ones I have seen are the much newer versions.
So I suppose the closest I could get to a 250ES is too try and find a 80's trx250:twisted:

Yeah 86-88 model is a ringer for the BR..it may go further.

Even when I look at my 1990 TRX300 I can see the similarities.

we have had car tires on a big red sence 88. works great for not tearing up the yard....
