So heres the saga...

I live in the U.K., My girlfriend lives In C.A!

She has no knowledge of mechanical stuff like cars or motorcycles, so Ive decided to try and build a bike by sending her the bits and letting her bolt on the bits when they arrive and teach her basic tools and maintenance.

Because the bike will have to be stored at her house and a rather unaccepting father I cant build a 250r or tri-z like i'd wish

Ive decided to get her to build up a ATC70, It wont be ridden much if at all and will be quite a long project and mainly just so I have a wheeler for when I eventually move out to C.A. with her and have to leave my Trikes behind :(

So im looking for a frame and set of forks to begin with and possibly a axle but thats not too important. Im out In C.A. next month for abit so if I could get one buy then and swap out the bearings and get it powdercoated or painted whilst im there that would give me a good base for her to build onto.

Anyone have a frame that they don't use and have no plans for that they would like to exchange for some beer tokens, would need it shipping to Pittsburg C.A.

Let me know what parts people have got and how much they want for them.

Il put a full build thread up once ive began.

I have seen frames on ebay but $200 is over my budget considering im still in college and saving heavy for trips.

Keep wheelin'! :)

in the meantime heres a couple of pictures of my Z's, recently sold the 85 tho'..

I don't have any parts for you bro, but just the fact that you got your girlfriend to agree to building a bike is a huge accomplishment. If it were up to my wife, I probably would not have 1 trike! : )

i dont think she would be as willing if it was a R or a bigger bike because of the costs but this shouldn't be a very expensive build and no rush to complete it.

no one got a frame out there? Looks like ebay then:rolleyes:

will keep you guys posted and maybe one day hit the US Trikefest :p

If you are patient and check Craigslist around the area your GF lives in, she could probably pick up a decent 70 for not much more than a frame costs on eBay. Then she can experience a tear down AND build up. At least she'll know what it's supposed to look like after completion. It never pays to rush things, my $.02

I do frequently check CL but most bikes are around 100-300miles away and she doesn't drive so collection would be a problem. Plus if it was to get torn down in her garage I think her Father would be pissed at bits all over aswell, so starting with a frame and then adding to it as bits are completed seemed a easier and better option.

Thanks for the input tho, Also I know shotblasting and powdercoat probably varies in different areas but what would be expecting to pay for a Frame, blasted and powdered?
