Hey lads, I've had a good search on the site but I'm struggling to find out how to get the old school burnt look on my DG frnt pipe, im sure it will be something simple and I'm sure one of you guys can help?
I've a picture that I bought off eBay reasontly of the 86 with the brownish burnt pipe and I like it!!

you gotta coat it with oil and let it burn off... and you gotta keep doing it,, to keep that look.

when you get a new dg they have "chainwax" or something very close on them. It does put a nice patina on them,I can't say how to keep it since the only 2 I had new were ceramic coated shortly after being new.edit.. BTW all my shelved cylinders get a coat of chainwax to prevent rust. unlike oil it doesn't need to be recoated or maintained and comes off easily with mineral spirits
