Like it reads, I'm looking to dig up any and all info about laegers conversion kits for the cr500s. If you got pictures i want them, if you got articles, i want them, if you got any info please please fill me in.
Further more, any info about 84 AIRCOOLed laegers conversions I would like that info very much.
Did they make kits for cr250s or 125s?
Thank you.

I have a complete Laegers 85 CR500 kitted Trike i am in process of putting back together also so this is something I would like to see. I am wondering on the 2 horizontal shock linkage arms from bottom rear of engine/frame back to rear shock linkage. Use stock or are they Laeger only? I have + 5 and a +10 swinger for mine.

i think laeger made custom links for some of thier conversions.
I'm curious about subframes. The one on the kit i bought doesn't quite seem right for an 85 500. Looks to use 84 atc seat and fenders. Here's some pics from the old owner.
Can you post up some pics of yours for comparison?

Trying to figure out what belong where and on what to close up that gap. I'm wondering if my kit wasn't meant for an aircooled 500.

The article above was on the old site.
I remember seeing alot of the Laeger conversions at glamis. The 84 style seat/fender setup was actually the prefered choice as it had a better seat to tank junction for the 85-88 CR conversion. Now on the 89 and on CR500 you went with the 85-86 250R seat/fender combo. Also Mark Laeger built triples for the inverted forks on the later 500's.

I grabbed that article already man, but thanks for the effort. Something is definitely different about this subframe. I like the idea of the 84 seat and fenders as it is, but i'm realy really leaning towards this kit was meant for a 84 500. All the pictures of these kits i'm seeing, the subframes are really different than this one.
Wish i could come accross an 84 frame and tank just to try fitment with out spending a bunch of money.

Also on my Laegers kit I got a +5 swinger that appears to use a stock flat aluminum lower horizontal link arm 6 1/4 in c to c. Curious about forks and shock mods if any were done. My rear shock res has a White Bros decal on it but I dont know if anything was done inside. Also in the link from post #5 Laegers article very last pic in bottom of pic it shows a steel lower horizontal link, prolly Laegers part. I would love to get specs off of that or be able to copy one.

I'm sure you know this already,,the 84 was a 480 Air cooled. I can't help much more than that, other than the bike you're picturing was definitely made for a pumper. Assuming the rads bolted up and nothings been changed?? Sorta looks right, except the seat/tank gap? But they were known for a less than ideal fit and finish.

Actually the history goes,
81 - CR450, aircooled, right hand drive
82 - CR480 - 4 speed, aircooled, right hand drive
83 - CR480 - 5 speed, aircooled, right hand drive
84 - CR500 - 5 speed, aircooled, left hand drive
85 - CR500 - 5 speed, first year for liquid cooled, 1 year engine, only a few parts interchange, narrow ratio trans, short rod, magnesium cover
86 - CR500 - 5 speed, liquid cooled, more parts interchange forward, narrow ratio trans, short rod, magnesium cover
87 - CR500 - 5 speed, liquid cooled, narrow ratio trans, long rod, first year for 2 piece clutch cover, they also added teeth to the kick start gears this year forward, ignition changes
88 - CR500 - little changed in the engine, minor porting changes
89 - CR500 - new cylinder design, thicker sleeve walls, decompression scallops built into exhaust ports, new cooling flow, relocated spigots, different head gasket, deeper clutch basket, more discs, deeper clutch cover,
90-92 - CR500 - porting changes, clutch lifter bearings, small changes
93-01 - CR500 - wide ratio trans, minor changes otherwise.
I'm sure I've forgotten something but thats the major engine stuff. I'm not as informed about the chasis stuff, hence my problem. lol

OK I'll bite. 3Razors you still have that 500? In PHX? Can I get some measurements off it? Or look at it? I'm in Peoria.

The sub frame I have is definitely way different than any of these machines or the posted pic. Mine was definitely designed for 84 air cooled seat and fenders. The question is what frame/tank combo matches up the best. 85-89 is not coming close at all.
The hunt continues.

Oh its not mine. It was forsale here locally a couple years back. I kept the pics because of the coolness factor.
Louis you might hunt around and try give Mark Laeger a call for more info. He sold the Laegers atv company long time ago and got into dirtcar racing last I heard.

That makes sense why when you call laegers they tell you they know nothing about the 3wheeler kits. Its because they really dont.

lol, Yeah, I'm gonna need to track down Mark Laeger apparently! lol

Well I got ahold of Mr. Laeger believe it or not. He's as puzzled as I am, he doesn't recall making a kit that used the 84 250r fenders. So that was a dead end. He was very nice on the phone though. Was neat talking to him.
