84 250r Throttle housing question

I am switching from a twist to a thumb throttle on my 250r. I have spoken with a member about buying his possibly but in the mean time I want to see if I can switch my throttle housing from my 86 200x to my 84 250r and hook it up and go. Is this possibly or are the connections inside the throttle housing different?

I think the twist throttle cable wont work you will need a regular cable for thumb throttle.

Right, I am getting rid of the death trap of a twist throttle and going to the nice thumb throttle. I just want to know if the 84 250r throttle cable (that is in the mail) will work with my 86 200x throttle housing?

I would think it would because most of hondas thumb throttles are very similar but you will find out as soon as you get the cable anyway.
