hi, i have an atc 70 and a race cart with slicks on it and want to put the 2 rear slicks on the rear of the trike. the trike stud patten is way bigger than the go-cart rim and was woundering if you have to make a hub that gose on the trike axle to the go-cart rim on a lathe.

cheers,
Brad.

Many folks take the stock 70 hubs and turn them down on a lathe and redrill the holes to use on the kart wheels.

Got any pics? I've never heard of this. I know you can get 6 inch aluminum wheels dirt cheap.

i took my stock axle and had it turned down to 1" then slid kart hubs and wheels right on,, that way you can go back and forth easy...

Kasey, I'm curious as how turning down the axle will allow you to go back and forth easily...does just a few thousands of material have to be removed for the kart hubs to slide on? Are they splined and match up with the 70 axle splines or are they smooth and need pinned or keyed? However it works, I'm curious as to how that works. If you could explain it, thanks

I MACHINED THE AXLE,, slid the kart hubs on made new axle sleeves and tightened it all up,, no keyways ,no splines ,, and with it tight it never came loose so 5 minutes and the knobbies were back on and down the trail you go,,,,

just the axle nut torque keeping the hub from spinning on the axle?

hi mart,
your vid is why i originally wanted to do it and then saw the 70 racing and it just looked like a heap of fun. i have the slicks and the cart hubs but have to look around for some 70 hubs to cut down.

I started one but did not finish it yet, used a Kart axle 33mm fits in the bearings. Wheels and axle are fully adjustable side to side. Somday I will get it back out.

Thats a good idea, a bit extra work but would be more stable. would probley beable to sort something out on a lathe. i might look into that.
