what parts interchange with an 86 200x

Just wondering what parts would interchange with little to no modifications.

Rear hubs and wheels from most any Honda sport ATV or ATC. Front wheels from the 85-86 350x, 85-86 250r and maybe the 86-87 Tecate. Front hub from any year 200x, 83-86 250r, 85-86 350x, 86-87 Tecate - spacers may need alterted to center the wheel. Forks from any year 200x - they are different but will work in the triples. Brake calipers from 83-85 200x? CR80? ???? 83-85 200x gas tank can be made to work but the rear mount is useless as is.

It would help to know what you may be wanting to swap.

I was just wondering what my options were. I would be rrealy interested on how to make a 1st gen tank work though just to get me by for now.

Front of the tank goes on fine and clears fine, rear mount on the 83-85 is upside down u shape - that needs flattened out then some brackets made to bolt through the tank mount holes and back to the frame mount. It would be best to run some kind of rubber bumper under the rear of the tank to avoid clattering noise. Personally, I would not suggest doing this - it ruins a 1st gen tank basically and still is not quite right. Here's a couple pics of one I bought this way and another of how it looked a little later. In the first pics the u had not been flattened out and the seat was the only thing holding it in place.

Thanks for the info. There is a guy selling an 85 close to me for 20. If its beat up I will probably use it as long as it don't leak. If its really nice I will probably resell it.

You can buy new plastic tanks for the 83-85 200x - not sure if they use a similar rear mount that can be modded to fit or not, but for you $20 is much cheaper.

Some real nice looking stuff there. I see you are a cnc machinest, you wouldn't happen to be able to help me with my gearshift plate by any chance. Also as soon as I get a job I will be needing a set of shrouds. The tank I have now leaks bad and whoever tried to weld it shouldn't have. I'm going to see if I can't fix it.

I'd love to be able to help with the plate, but I get very little personal machine time, if any and generally use that time for my own projects. Now if you contacted the company I work for or just about any machine shop, they could probably make 1 for you but they would need one to duplicate or a detailed drawing to work from and it would be pricey. Probably better to have several made but that depends on the ability to sell the extras. Shrouds are listed in the 3ww Shop when you're ready.

Here's a couple pics pulled from ebay to try to explain the tank mod. The first pic is the bottom of the 1st gen tank, the 2 highlighted areas need to be bent flat so the mount holes are going the same direction as the 86 tank in the next pic. As I recall the 1st gen holes still do not line up with the threaded holes in the frame for mounting so you need to use a peice or 2 seperate peices of flat aluminum or steel bar to connect the holes. You'll need 4 bolts instead of 2. 2 to connect the bar/bars to the 1st gen tank and 2 to connect the bar/bars to the frame.

Like I said it can be done, but will be pricey. Most shops charge by the hour and best guess is you are looking at at least 3 hours to get the first part done. The broken part needs laid out and measured acurately. For CNC, a program has to be made - where I work I would need to make an AutoCad drawing of it then use a CAM program to generate the machine codes, possibly make a fixture, machine needs set up and then run. Run time for additional parts wouldn't be much which is why making more than just 1 would be best, the more the better to a point. I have no idea what my shop charges, but if you really want to go that route I can give you their contact info and you can call them up and see. Once again though, right now we are as busy as we've ever been, so it may be better to find a place that is not so busy and needing/wanting work and I would suggest finding a place that is local to you. You will get a lot faster answers if you can walk in and show someone what you want remade.

Ok I get it now. Seems simple. After the U shape mount is flattneddo the bolt holes liine up.
