I came across one on Portland Craigslist a couple years ago. It was a total basket case for about the same price. Good find!

Awesome! I would buy it if it was closer and i had the cash!
I remember seeing my first one of those back in my high school days, one of the guys drug it in as his small engines class project, the original Tecumseh was locked up and after they got it spinning they ran it and tossed the rod out of the block. That was back when you could still buy short block Tec's through lawnmower shops and he rebuilt it.
More recently, about two years ago, i saw one of those in a local parade pulling a small float for a high school. They put a new 13hp Duromax electric start on it and added a handlebar control from an ATV for stop/run and start functions, looked like they stripped it all down and started over. Neat unit that was really made only as a work horse. I remember taunting that guy back in high school over it because i had a Honda Big Red. But for what they are it did the job, they ran that thing on the farm for years, now that i think of it, not actually sure whatever happened to it.
