What do you mean exactly? I have an 86 and I love it. I never drove an 85 but I would think that aside from the extra gear I have, power wise they would be relative to each other. I have plenty of power to fly through some trails but for racing I am not nearly as fast as the other folks out there. My brother and I were driving my trikes from my house to my grandmothers about .5 miles down the road. He drove my 84 250r and I drove my 86 200x. I thought I would be funny and go as fast as I could out of the drive way but once he heard my RPMs get up he just took off. Not a thing I could do either. When I got about .25 miles down the road he was pulling into my grandmothers house and was waiting for me. Since then I have never tried to keep up with him lol.

How about you rephrase this in the form of a question..it doesn't make sense.

I'm going to be looking at a 200x. I would just like some general input on these machines in general im 6'3 and 220 and im wondering if its gunna be any fun to ride. I love my 200e just because it has some power to move me. and reliablity and what to look for before I go look at this machine. Thanks

Also how reliable would u consider these compared to big red?

they are same motors basicly. just kick start which if kicker is sliping you need to get gears back cut and fix that. other then that they are fun last forever if you dont waste a stock axle which is easy.

What year of parts are interchangeable on these machines? I know motorwise its any honda 200. but like body and frame?

83-85 are almost all the same. You will be watching for the kickstart to be solid, not slipping thru under compression. Fork seals, axle, swingarm, wheel and head bearings. chain, sprockets, brakes, tires etc.. It counts up fast fixing one up!! A LOT more performance than a Big red !! Full suspension! Good luck !

I'm same size as you and the little guy hauls my ass pretty well..

Now the whole discussion about reliabilty is pretty clear..it's a Honda. Nuff said..next question!

The differences would be in the application..I like to trail ride with my kids. For that the 200x is great. It's sporty and light!

I like to mudbog with my brother..for that the Big Red or 250sx. They have closed brake systems and drive systems..no mud in the moving parts generally. Also getting yourself unstuck in a mud pit with a manual clutch is 'tres difficile'.

For you being in the 200e to the 200x..welcome to the world of the rear suspension trike. A really life(back) saver on a long days ride.

And oh yeah you'll look like a gorilla on a moped, but who cares it's fun as hell!!

Paid $400 for it not sure if I overpaid or not. For sitting for those years the gas tank dosent have any rust in it. Noticed it had a coffman silencer on it. Ordered new hand grips, uni filter and carb kit for it yesterday. Can't wait to get started and get her running again. Any ideas for the cracks in the back on how to put them back together? I'm used to zip tying cracks together just inerested in trying something new that dosent require the zip ties.

drill out the end of the cracks with a small drill bit they won't crack any more when you do that. nice looking bike by the way

You could plasic weld the cracks, but as hillbilly 200x said , I'd drill the end of the cracks to end the stress. Check you local welding suppy for plasic weld rods. Some are lower temp and can be done with a heat gun, others need a hotter air temp. But I beleave they rent those out. Havnt done it in a long time but it is possable. Won't be perfect like new plasics but it will hold.

400 is a good deal! Thats the reason i love trikes they are not a $6000 investment like any modern 4 wheeler. Nice trike! :w00t:

Nice looking X man, I got an 85 a few years ago not as complete as yours for 295 so your in good shape with the price. My X didnt have the front cog cover or metal headlight guard so that right there adds up to 100 bucks. Nice pickup and keep us posted when you get her running.

I stay away from K&N. They let in too much dirt even with the dust bag, UNI all the way.

use the uni the k&n arn't the best filter for trail riding I have found that they don't do well with sand, mud, water or dust. make sure you oil the uni befor you put it on the bike. I use rust check (spray can) or k&n oil
