The PV was leaking on my 81 250R so i took it off for inspection and noticed the rubber washer was almost totally gone. I can't seem to get a good description of it or pic either, just wondering is it a special order part or will any washer from Home Depot do the trick? The Honda shop in town is more interested in selling twenty grand motorcycles than ordering in a 50 cent washer :) - thx.

I would say most any rubber washer of similar size and thickness will doo the trick. Some rubbers don't react well with fuel products though... nothing that will deteriorate over night, but may over time. should be a good quick fix so you can ride until you get the correct one. I'd definitly find another dealer as well... nothing worse than buying a big ticket item then they dont want to help yopu maintain it! The dealer i bought my 4 wheeler from told me they couldnt mount the tires for my 350 X because it was motercycle season....I'd have to wait 3 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah.... never going back there again!

Good luck with the washer, the plumbing section / faucets will have the best selection of rubber washers. Hey, cant be worse than the one that was on there right!?!?!?

Post a picture of it if you can.
If it's not too gone

it's jsut a washer, go to the local auto parts store, or if you have an ace hardware they sell washers by the single and you can match it up.

I picked up a couple of o-rings see how these work... Last night when I was searching for these washers I came across a motorcycle which has a special washer in the PV with three holes in it, and there wasn't anything left of mine to compare it too. Thx for the reply's and info...

Someone posted honda part numbers for 'rebuilding' a petcock.

some sort of flat washer with a few different holes in it.
if it's the one that sits under the rotational selector piece.
for on off and reserve.

They drilled out the rivets and either tapped or used long bolts with nuts
to reassemble.

Seems like it was a month or 2 ago and sounds like it worked pretty well.

I've also lost the O ring that fits between the pet and bottom of the tank
but most places have an assortment to pick from.
