This is after some 600-800 grit then rubbing compound. More pics as I get into finer grits and polishing compound and wax.

Looks great already! I think that lays to rest the question if a red Tecate tank will clean up. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress and really looking forward to getting it on the bike!

I think this Mr. Clean Fella has got this Wax-on/Wax-off thing down to a science.

I think this Mr. Clean Fella has got this Wax-on/Wax-off thing down to a science.Little does he know that he's secretly learning defensive karate tactics. Just wait until he goes up against Johnny Lawrence & the rest of the Cobra Kais.

That's awesome! That sticker area is not necessarily a bad thing. It would sure help to properly line up a replacement Kawasaki decal!

HOLY CRAP!! That is some dam good adhesive Kawi uses. Awesome job again Mike, there was no doubt in my mind : )Its not the adhesive,The rest of the tank loses thickness from the sun/weather but the decal protects that small part of the tank and makes a embossed outline of it. kawi went way wrong with their fuel tanks between 84-88,I have an 83 kx 250 tank that looks new and was out in the weather as much as any

Interesting, but I'm sure that the glue on my YTM's rear fender stickers somehow leeched into the plastic and made it swell and discolor. If what you say is true wouldn’t the sticker wear through with that much rubbing? Also it seems to me that some stickers do this more than others on the same plastic.

I spent a little time working this tank in particular around the filler neck. It came out okay.

Holy friggin crap

I'm speechless, but that works too! Wow. Right on par with your other work obviously. But this one is even more amazing to me because this one is mine! :) Do I now have the nicest OE Tecate tank on the board? Haha. I am that impressed!

That thing is stellar. Now the question is Ryan, will the fenders match the tank or is it too nice? A nice new set of fenders would be the cats meow but finding them in red is going to be tough unless there is a group buy of the Maier low-pro's. I think there was a Red NOS rear on ebay a week or so ago for $750.

I was just talking to Mr. Clean via PM and told him that tank is gonna make the rest of my bike look bad! Oh, $750 for a fender. Yeah I have way less than that in the whole bike and there are no cracks in my fenders. I think my current rear fenders might be Maiers but not low pros. I think I'll try shine my current fenders myself and call it good. If a group buy came up I'd probably entertain it though. I'll post some pics once it's installed.

I hear you man. The price of this stuff is outrageous. Once my 250r is done I will not buy anymore NOS crap unless some other poor sap is footing the bill. My rider will get aftermarket or 450r stuff from here on out.

I can't wait to see it once you get the tank on there.

I have had the tank for quite awhile now but I finally got some pics. Here is Mr. Clean's polished tank and the 1985 decals he had made. Looks amazing in person.
