I put up a wanted add looking for a nice rider on craigslist and what I was willing to spend. I got a reply from a guy with an '85 that has owned if for 9 years and needs the money for other projects. Hopefully I'll have some pics tonight.

Fingers crossed for ya bud. A buddy of mine dropped by today. He's been looking for a quad for his son. Hounding me to hook him up with a 250EX. Anyhow,he spotted a 2004 Blaster 250 in the motorcycle side of CL. Called the guy twice. Gave up,he calls back just getting home from 3rd. Says yeah,,I have twin boys, I bought them a new X box and this quad. We're on the 3rd Xbox, they rode this 6 times around my yard. It is BRAND NEW!!! A true gem, he scored well! And he will keep it that way.

Got it home but I'm too F'n lazy to take pics so I'll just post up the Craigslist pics. She's a little ruff around the edges, but runs strong and feels real tight. I have a set of old school maier rear fenders, perfect oem scoops, super nice 350x rear wheels w/ turf tamers, and a really nice 350x front that I need to swap the tires out. Just ordered a new throttle and clutch cable. I need to find a flat slide carb, because I hate these round sliders.

Cosmetically it looks a little better in the pics. But the brakes work great, suspension feels tight, and the bearings are all tight. Plus the engine sounds nice and it shifts smoothly through all the gears. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I never ride at night so I'll probably do a number plate on the front and change up the color scheme a little later down the road. The carb is junk so I'll look for a flat slide asap. I literally yanked it out of the truck and rolled it into the garage. I'll go over it better tomorrow.

I also did for a while. He was asking more than I had to spend so I didn't bother him. He responded to my wanted add and I informed him of my budget and we made a deal. Real nice guy to deal with for once on craigslist.

Nice. Not to derail but while we are on the subject of stlcraigslist, I had quite the adventure tonight. There was a 350x in Moscow Mills for $500. I talk to the guy and he said the swing arm and shock are taken off, tires don't hold air, gas tank rusty, headlight, chain and front sprocket missing, rear fender chunk broken out, torn seat. At that point I was like I'll let you know. Then he says he'll take $350 so I go get it and it was rougher than it sounded. lol. But I drove 80 miles so I wasn't going home empty handed. I leave and the seller calls me and says he got another phone call with an offer of $650 and the seller gives me the number. So I call the guy and he's from IL too. He told me $600. He asked if it ran and had no idea on the condition and that he could not see it run. So I meet him at Belleville Home Depot on my way home and sold it for $550. $200 profit (minus gas) for a bike I really didn't want, before I even got home. Wow.

Wow.Now that is something that doesn't happen everyday.lol I think I talked to that guy a few months ago and he sent some pics. Yes it was rough to say the least. Just by the pics I got, there was no way I could have broke even at $500 if I decided to part it. Good job Ryan.

Ben, thanks for the offer, but I'm a Keihin guy. I'm thinking a '86 34mm or a 36mm PJ. I have so many damn jets and needles for Keihin carbs that it makes since to stick with them, not to mention I have the best luck with them.

Thanks Bill. I'm going to fiddle with this round slide a little bit and see where it lands. I have no idea what jetting he has in there plus I know the bike has sat for a while so it is probably a combination of a few things that are working against it. Cables are the main things that need addressing and they are on their way.

BTW Bill, I need that address to ship the decals to.

That's a decent looking R. I might have missed it earlier in the thread, how much did you give for it?

I gave $1200 for it. For this area its about the going price for a nice rider. The price of all trikes are location specific. I could have maybe gotten a little nicer one if I wanted to drive 4 or 5 hundred miles, but this one was 20 minutes from my house so that plays a big part as far as I'm concerned.

I had been watching that bike on CL also. If I hadn't placed a wanted ad on CL myself for a 250r earlier this spring and found one I would have been all over that one for sure. Good deal. I like seeing bikes go to guys on this site. At least you know they will be taken care of. Good luck on your build bkm!

I dusted off my old maier rear fenders and the better of the two seats, slapped on a set of 350x wheels and tires I had laying around, put on a set of oem shrouds, and cut off those hideous fork boots. Nothing spectacular, but it has a better look to it I would say.

Took her out for a little spin today with my little helper. Installed new cables, replaced the rear shock reservoir mount clamp and slider, and I also swapped out the coil and plug for a much better unit. I still need to do a little carb adjusting, but it runs much better then the day I got it.

I think the clutch cover is going to have to come off and inspect whats going on in there. The clutch has a bad chatter when you take off. It shifts fine when moving and disengages fine, but the chatter is pretty bad. You can't slip it smoothly when taking off so it makes getting moving interesting. I'm of course gonna check the disc's and plates, but also make sure the ball hasn't welded itself to the rod and make sure the basket isn't all grooved up.

Looking good. Are you getting any fork boots? And a friend of mine needs a gold 250R wheel if you have an extra. He might have one tracked down though.

I got the new fenders and number plate mounted up. I also swapped out the round slide carb for a '86 flat slider compliments of Mr. Clean. I guess DC plastics and Maier don't get their red plastic from the same company lol. Now I just need to have Mrs. Mosh do a seat, get my tank Mr. Cleaned, and install my new 10" wheel when it comes in and she'll be ready to go cosmetically and mechanically. Xowner has a set of white number plate decals coming and I need to find a couple of red zip ties for the number plate.

I pulled the clutch cover off and the basket was grooved badly so it was filed down and reassembled. Now I just need to ride it. I'm gonna try and make it to St. Joes Friday during the day and give it some shake down runs.
