Just like every other machine, location & condition are the factor!!

There is no simple answer to your question.

Thank for the input, y'all. It looks like the ceiling on good runners is $1000 or so. I was hoping that more recent buyers (if any) would chime in with what the finl selling prices were.

I traded for mine, the car was a goofball (79 xjs jaguar with chevy drive train) that needed a bunch of work. i put the value of it about 5-700 or so... but now I wouldn't sell my 81 for 3k... my advice, get one and hang onto it, they are not getting any easier to find in good shape... my honest answer is don't buy a cheap one, they are nothing but headaches unless you plan on rebuilding it top to bottom from the get go, i have seen a few liquids on the mass craigslist in good shape going for 1500-1800 which is affordable, not cheap by any sense of the word. but it always comes down to if you can live with the price....

Your location is THE biggest factor. And yours is not listed. You sound like you're wanting a Nice one as opposed to a project. Anything under $700 will be a deal. they are fairly hard to come by ,around here at least. AWESOME,underrated bikes!! Whatever you get,,it WILL need work : )

Last year I paid 250 dollars in Abbotsford BC Canada for 81 250R and it was not looking good. To date I have put in another 400 dollars and I now have a 3 wheeler I can take out ride on the weekends. There is still lots of work to be done to make it look really nice, oh ya all money invested was cosmetic, the engine starts up right away on the first couple of kicks.
