I'm sure this is on here somewhere already, I'm wondering what all sprockets i can use on my ytm 200, Trying to make it faster It is a 1984 YTM 200 It has a 42teeth 520 chain on it right now, I've looked in many places and cant see to find out how to find one, i compared the # stamped in the the sprocket aswell, and still found nothing. Any help with this would be wonderful.

Bump Again! lol, I'm not sure if a blaster/banshee sprocket hub will fit or not, it's be more simple to just buy a bigger front sprocket, but i cant find anything bigger then 11tooth, which is what i have. I'm sad panda, someone help!

a blaster front sprocket will fit or sprocket specialists should be able to make a rear in almost any size but only out of aluminum. The jt catalog is very helpful for cross referencing but it can take some time

Here ya go, took me 14 seconds to find.......... http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Yamaha-Rear-Sprocket-36T-1983-1984-YTM200-21V-25442-20-33-/140884334223?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20cd5c568f&vxp=mtr And honestly if you want to go faster, get a machine thats made for it.

I've already found that one, I'm not stupid, I have looked, And you can make anything FAST, It runs 55-60 on stock ratio, Shouldn't be too hard to get 5-10mph. Also i said i wanted a bigger "Front" sprocket, Not a 36t rear. Just saying, Shouldn't down people on what they wanna do. All it takes is the mind, and motivation .

I don't know what sprockets fit the front, but I have some rear end parts. I might still have a motor at the shop. If I do have a motor I will post up a reply with info. No reply = No motor found.

Listen up, maybe you are stupid. You said you were looking for a sprocket HUB that might work for your machine, there is no front sprocket HUB Einstien. Therefor I directed you to a rear sprocket that would achieve the same results you are looking for, which apparenly is 70mph on a POS YTM200. And that really does make me question your intelligence. And for the record, I never put you down, I was giving you good advice.

Hey hey now, no need to get all mad, rofl, I asked for Hub and or front sprocket, nothing was said about the rear sprocket, A blaster rear sprocket hub would allow me to use blaster sprockets, And the ytm is no pos, And seeing how the ytm200 already runs 55-60, &0 doesnt seem like its that far off, And seeing as how you said my idea of making a ytm fast was pretty much stupid, is putting me down. kthx

Ytm200 at 55-60??

Mine would be lucky to see 45-50..tops.

You must have the turbo model? Or you're 85 lbs soaking wet?

LOL
Doug, yours is normal. That is about what they go stock.

Some people don't realize that the machines appear to be going faster than they really are.
But then again, if you have it in High gear in the back of a truck going down him on fire, then you could go faster.

I have a ytm that has had suspension mods all the way around and is the best handling ytm I have ridden but I don't think I would wanna do much more than the 45mph it was intended to do

I was clocked by a vinson 500, Like it will do 55, But then you start to hear the valves

"hear the valves" do what??

The speedo on an ATV is more of a suggestion of what speed you are travelling..they are rarely ever accurate! Especially if tires have been changed from stock as many people have..

my stock 86 350x will only go about 65 on open road..but being an owner of several of the Yamaha 200/225s I've never seen close to 60. it just isn't possible.

best way to check a machines speed with with a hand held GPS..

now on the sprocket change thought..the problem you will have with increasing your sprocket ratio to gain more speed is that you will lose power. in 5th gear you just won't get the revs to get you any more speed..kind of a wasted effort in my mind.

as others have meantioned maybe you should get a faster machine if you are having thrill issues! that poor old 25 year old off-road cruiser wasn't designed to be ridden like a 250r..you are just gonna beat it into the grave or yourself

Had my 83 200 clocked on numerous occasions at over 54mph and once at 56mph with 10psi in the stock tires, my chin on the front fender, on pavement and I'm sure there was a tail wind. My friend geared his up by adding a tooth to the front sprocket. It was a Yamaha sprocket off a 200cc dirt bike that used the same engine, but I don't recall the name. Anyway, the engine wouldn't pull the gear, so don't waste your time.

PS. That "POS" comment really hurt my trike's feelings:(

"hear the valves" do what?? Float? Ping? Rattle? The things valves do when pushed to there limit. And it only does this when Wide open, Or pinned in 5th gear.

I live in a vally up on a mountain pretty much, I still wanna be able to ride in the woods, But most my riding happens on roads. Thats why i don't see the problem with trying to gain 5-10 mph I''m not askign fora hot rod, Just for the machine to go a little faster, I don't want a diffrent bike, i love my ytm 200. =D
