Need Help! I own a '87 Tecate KXT 250. when i start the engine, it smokes (blue) for a minute or two and fouls the plug after @ 5 minutes. I have good compression. I tore the top end down and found the right KIPS exhaust valve full of dark nasty oil, but no oil entering the crankcase. Wher did this oil come from? If the KIPS isnt working correctly, will it cause the plug to foul?? :?: :(

If it was running good and you didn't change anything. I would NOT rejet. It sounds like you have other problems to me.

Are you loosing oil durring your ride?? Does it feel "flat" thru the power band? I have the same problem, and I know it is the crank seals in my case. Oil is getting into my cylinder, it smokes bad, and robbs power.
give us more info, and we will try to help.

GOOD LUCK

MIK6 is probaly right. every t3 i get my hands on has bad crank seals. they are a pain to replace but well worth the effort. just keep an eye on the tranny fluid. if it is going down then it is going out the pipe :(

If it is a bad crank seal, wouldnt there be oil in the bottom of my crank case? The crank case look clean and has no oil? Also if anyone has changed a crank seal ,can you give me some tips on replacing one.

no, the crank seal seperates the tranny and the crank area. if the seal is bad you will lose tranny fluid. it is sucked past the seal into the combustion area. you have to completely split the case and disassemble the engine to replace the seals.

JMiller.... I would love to see more pictures. Can you take a picture from the front. I have always wondered what that aftermarket light would look like on a T3. Do you still have the keyed ignition(how is it hooked w/ the other light)? how about the parking brake?
XBasket is rite you have to split the cases to replace crank seals. When you are in there its a good time to do some PM, crank bearings and/or a new rod depending on the age/condition.

GOOD LUCK
